Seems your woodchuck is certainly getting lots to eat. But this makes me wonder where his/her siblings are (it looks too young to be the mother). The whole family knew about your generosity and love of wildlife, so they should all have returned to your “field of plenty.” That only one has, so far, makes me sad.

Mother kicks them out of the burrow and chases them off her territory when they’re grown. She’s here every year so I’m surprised this little one still is.

Free food that is readily available without too much danger is a strong attraction. I doubt mommy can have that much power, but I am not an expert.

Aww that’s nice baby chucker is still there. Although even if mom kicked him out he could be staying close in his/her own burrow for the treats alone, lol.

But not ground wood.
Chuck roast, I couldn’t resist;
Wood roast, I’ve withstood….
But I wouldn’t eat woodchuck
Even if it tasted good.
