.
After a year of hemming and hawing.
A year of deciding and then changing his mind.
A year of yes he will and then no he won’t.
He finally did it.
.

.
One final rub down …
And then.
.

.
He put her on the front lawn for sale.
.

.
It’s been a long time coming. We really don’t ride much anymore and throwing $1,000 into her every year to counteract the inactivity wasn’t doing her… or us…. any good.
.

.
So the husband finally agreed to let one of his babies go.
We put her out on the lawn at 2:00 in the afternoon. At 2:30 I listed her on FB marketplace and Craig’s List. At 3:00 we got a call from a man with cash.
.

.
The next morning at 10:00am she was gone.
I think my husband is still in shock.
.
Maybe, once the shock wears off, he will be inspired to sell some more stuff.

Maybe. But to be honest I’m amazed he even sold this…

Makes me think we didn’t ask nearly enough.

Quick sales with emotional stuff are the best.

No time for second thoughts that’s for sure….

That was fast. Congratulations on the sale, good luck dealing with a shellshocked husband missing his baby.

I think it will be harder to give up the Harley. When that’s gone, it’s like saying goodbye to an era…..

I get that. Went through the same thing with my husband with his CDs and albums and turntable and big ass speakers. Eventually he sold them all, but it was the end of an era.

It’s like a little piece of his youth drove away…

Sad, but at least she’ll be ridden and enjoyed. And if she needs repairs, oh well 😉

We just gave her new tires, a battery and rebuilt the carburetor so she should be fine.

I am very glad you remain whilst the motorcycle has traveled on.

I’m too old a model to trade in.

She’s gone to a good home it seems. The guy looks like he’ll look after her.

He was thrilled with it. Just spent the last few years in Alaska…

And time moves on. Closing one door opens another door. Which door will it be?

With my husband? There’s no telling.

Give him time. Two or thtee days should be enough!

Yep. Just enough time to go buy a new bike.

No need. The Harley is still in the garage.

I feel the pain. When I sold my pickup, part of my soul and manhood went with it …

It’s about admitting his age, and physical capabilities. Hard things, I know.

You and hubby are trusting souls, leaving the motorcycle on the front lawn.by the road where a couple of muscular Mainers with no scruples (assuming there are such people in your state) could have stopped, hoisted the cycle into their pickup, and sped off before you could say Harley Davidson. 😀

We’ve sold a few vehicles on our lawn. Though we only put things out there when we’re home. As for stealing this bike, it wasn’t out there long enough for anyone to notice… and was seriously heavy!

Emotional attachment with non living things is rarely talked about. When I sold my first car I actually took a selfie to remember….

It’s not necessarily the thing… but what it represents. I took plenty of goodbye photos as well.

I bet you’re in shock, too. Normally he’s buying, not selling!

He’s been mumbling about selling it for years but I was surprised he actually went through with it.

One less thing to worry about. Don’t you all have like a dozen more?

Just one more. Though I’m having a hard time convincing him that should go as well…

It was the Smart Thing to do, but still, very hard for him, I’m sure.
