It’s planting time!

.

The frost danger has probably but who the hell knows because it’s Maine passed and now it’s time to fill that beautiful raised stone bed my husband built last year.

.

.

My first trip to the nursery made me realize another trip is in order. Such a hardship.

.

.

But look at our little crabapple tree.

.

.

Finally in full bloom.

.

.

So far… this is what will be living in the garden.

.

.

I realized I chose too much pink and purple so the next trip will be for peach, red and maybe white to round it out.

  1. It took my daughter exactly 24 hours to complain it’s too hot. Right before that, she was complaining it was too cold and looking for a fleece blanket to wrap herself in. 🙄🇨🇦

I too don’t take as gospel the frost past date… I love your flower choices!

  2. We have a heat date….and ya’ll have a frost date wow. My zone is 8a, and I think I’m behind in planting. I’ve been working hard to get what I have of my lawn green again. It’s not good when your lawn is yellow and it crunches. I planted rosemary last year and it didn’t take, ugh. You are good with purples and pinks, those are most definitely happy and calm colors.

    1. Have you thought of switching to microclover instead of grass. It’s all the rage in Canada. It doesn’t need as much water (lasts better in hot dry weather, and never needs mowing — it grows realclose to the ground.) The internet says it’s good to Zone 10. We’re in zone 2, but I am not mobile enough to do the work anymore. As usual, maybe next year.

  3. Cathy bought some plants last weekend, so all the pots and baskets around the porch are growing in. I was in the jungle in the back yard and my weed whacker revealed a large patch of hostas, which I shall soon be transplanting to a better location. Riiiiiide that shovel, baby, WOOT! I can’t wait to see your garden all greened up and blooming. Have fun.
