Location is everything. The resort…

.

Our home base for the anniversary trip was a two bedroom condo at Wyndham Ocean Ridge on Edisto ( Ed-iss-toe) Beach. Mid way between Charleston and Hilton Head…

.

.

It’s a quiet, laid back mostly residential beach community without all the tacky water parks and touristy crap cluttering most southern coasts. It’s the undiscovered country and that’s just how we like it.

When we arrived at the resort and checked in, we were given a unit on the golf course. We travel through our timeshare so sometimes it’s a crap shoot where we’re placed. But seeing that my husband has the gift of gab and makes friends easily, we were quickly reassigned to one of the deluxe units in the best area. (Me dropping the 40th wedding anniversary bomb may have had something to do with it as well. 😉 )

If it hadn’t been January, in the height of the off season this wouldn’t have happened. The Bay Point association is the primo spot of the entire resort and people book them two years in advance.

.

.

The peninsula itself is Edisto Beach with private homes all around. The areas in green are the resort and it was a crazy set up. One second you’re on the resort, the next you’re on a private road. As you can see by my arrow we were right at the tip on the water.

.

.

Our condo was in the middle on the top floor, which in reality is only the second but you have to climb 4 flights of stairs to get there.

.

.

It was clean and spacious.

.

.

With a decided seaside decor.

.

.

It was newly remodeled with carpet that looked like waves.

.

.

And had a pretty sweet view from the bed.

.

.

And speaking of views…

.

.

One look out the balcony and I was a happy camper.

.

.

Off season with an entire beach to ourselves. It doesn’t get much better than that.

.

.

Second bedroom. No, we don’t use it… but if you book a two bedroom unit you get two baths and that my friends is the key to a long and happy marriage.

.

.

Master bath. This was mine in case you were wondering.

😉

.

.

We settled in and unpacked.

.

.

Very pleased with our South Carolina home for the week.

      1. I got that the anniversary was last month, but didn’t know if you went on the trip during or after (the husband and I can rarely go on the actual day because of the school year calendar). Besides, I usually read your posts very early in the morning. Sometimes before I’ve even finished my first coffee. I can’t be held accountable for details like that until at least 7am. 😉

  1. I would have gone along with you, at least in spirit,
But my spirit would’ve warned, “Don’t go near it!”
Not that your trip makes me jealous, so to speak —
It seems my flesh is willing, but my spirit is weak.

  2. Looks lovely! Isn’t there some mountains as well as the sea in Carolina? Or is that North? I don’t know much about the US but the mountains in Carolina was one of the places I thought would be nice – the Catskills I think. Lots of glorious trees. There was an art and woowoo retreat or some such there. Regardless I’m looking forward to a little vicarious holidaying!

    1. The mountains are in western North Carolina, this is South Carolina. The Catskills are in New York State, about 900 miles north. This area is low country marsh and beach.

  3. Happy belated anniversary! 40 years is extraordinary – I consider you two relationship superheroes.

What a lovely vacation spot for celebrating. I’m sorry the weather wasn’t warm, but hush puppies do warm the insides!

    1. Relationship superheroes? I like that…. I guess it makes me the Wonder Woman of Wedlock.
And yes, it was a great area to explore. Even if the temps were 25 -30 degrees less than what I packed for.

      1. Wonder Woman of Wedlock, with a golden lasso that scoops in a mate for life! And hey, I feel like bad weather follows us everywhere we go. Did you buy More Clothes on the trip?

  4. Very nice. I love having a place (for that amount of time) to have a kitchen so you’re not a slave to restaurants all the time. Looks like a sweet spot!

Oh, January in Florida IS season. For some reason I was thinking SC wasn’t that far behind us, season wise but I suppose it really is.

    1. Since we got our timeshare, anything less than a two bedroom 2 bath condo with full kitchen just doesn’t cut it for me. If I’m going to travel? I need space…
      😉
And it might just have been Edisto that was seasonally affected, they’re s small town. Beaufort and Charleston were fully open.
