It’s taken a few days of sniffing and tentative exploring but I think Lord Dudley Mountcatten has finally accepted the new furniture.
.

.
Cats are not fond of change, much like my husband… which is why our new furniture looks a lot like our old…. but I think they’re both coming around.
.

.
He doesn’t look stressed here.
.

.
And before long he was assuming his favorite position with his favorite person.
.

.
Please note that’s not me.
.

.
The last picture?
Proof positive he’s accepted the new ottoman.
🤣

I feel you girl, I’m the one that feeds and cares for Snarky Charlie and yet, my oldest son comes over and it’s all lovies and snuggles.

Dudley there’s me a bone now and then because I’m master of the can opener but he’s a daddy’s boy.

I chose my present partner because of the way animals, particularly cats, react to her. Until I met her I was the one any cat would come to, whether I knew them or not. I needed only to avckniwledge a cat’s existence, and it would come and rub sgainst my leg, and usually let me pick it up, no matter how bad an actor I was told it was. In my life I have had less than 5 csts reject me.
But once I met Gail, all that chsnged. The cats still came to me, but they went to her first. So did dogs, or whatrver other four- footed pets people had. I was definitely second choice. Except once, our Diabola. From our first meeting she was definitely my girl. But, the place and time we met her, we also met our Smoky, now deceased. He attached himself to her, and treated me like a whipping boy. He wss a prince, and she was his queen.
How could I not fsll in love with someone csts would choose before me. I trust cat instincts above my own. They know a good person from a bad one, and she was, and is, the best person I know.
The real test, though, was one Sunday we had car problems in a town we were just passing through , and we found a mechanic who would open his place of business to tske a look at our car. His one admonishment, he kept a guard dog in his workplace to intimidate thieves who had broken in and stolen his tools more than once. He found the meanest dog he could, and while he made friends with it, no pne else could. “Stay away,” he said, “Undertaker might bite.” He had named him after the badass wrestler. When we got there, she and I stayed outside while he went in to tie Undertaker up. But Undertaker had other ideas, and don’t ask me how he knew we were there. As soon as the door was open, he pushed his way past the mechsnic, ran up to Gail, laid down on his back and let her rub his belly. The mechanic was in shock! As for Undertsker, after 5 minutes loving Gsil, he sauntered over to me and let me scratch him behind the ears.
The mechanic fixed our car, and charged us only for parts. He said if Undertaker thought we were friends, so should he. We tried to pay him what he was worth to us, a long way from home and probably spending a night or two in a motel, but he would not take anything but his own costs. That experience let me know my heart had chosen correctly. She didn’t have to tame the savage beast, she just had to say “Hello there, big guy!” and he was smitten.
And we got to continue on our way the very same day.

That’s beautiful. ❤️
My father often said he fell in love with my mother because of her love for animals. They really are far superior to humans…

All you need to have cats come up to you is to be allergic to them. Works for me. They want to sit in my lap.

Sorry to hear that, butat least they come. If you were a nasty person they would avoid you — unless they themselves have nasty demeanors. Some humans are not nice to them.

Of course they do.

Certainly there’s got to be a cat somewhere that likes change! I’ve never known one though.

You may come in second in Dudley’s view, but I’m sure it’s a close second. 🙂

Maybe it’s the memory of it…

His Lordship has definitely “signaled” approval and acceptance for the new fixtures.
