With and without momma chuck.

Did you know woodchucks can climb trees?

They also practice on poles.

We saw momma shimmy right up our apple tree a few years back. I think my jaw dropped…

Sadly, too much. We had a batch of babies a few years ago that gnawed thru a deck post

man, they aren’t supposed to ACTUALLY chuck wood. sorry to hear this. our pesky animals are chipmunks, which like to dig in unwelcome places.

Oddly enough we don’t have a lot of those. One or two… but we have a resident hawk so he helps.

I never thought about trees, but now I’m like, “Of course.” And now I googled them and discovered that they are also known as ground hogs! I had no idea they were the same animal.

I am only learning about them through you. So I didn’t know about that they could climb trees.

We discovered that a few years ago when the mother climbed our apple tree right in front of us. I was surprised too.

I’m curious whether you’re using a super zoom feature or able to get pretty close to them.

Just my iPhone. When I sit on the edge of the barn porch, the little ones come quite close.
