      1. Just general air and water pollution, and a rising average tempersture. I wstched a PBS show on the Monarchs. Their breeding areas hwve been mcde smaller.
Humajns are going to destroy this world ifwe do not do something soon. Vote Blue!

  1. Butterflies and other insects are on the decline everywhere. It’s so sad. Thank you for maintaining an environment in your yard that welcomes nature. More people need to do this. Thanks, also, for sharing this photo. They are beautiful creatures.

      1. I am sooo thankful that years ago, when monarchs migrated through SantaAna and Irvine by the hundreds of thousands, I frequently stopped to watch them fly by. I never it saw it before, nor again.

  2. Lovely! Fortunately they visit my garden and breed because I’ve got a few Buddleia plants out back. Do a bit of research and plant a few of their faves around the place so you can provide a pesticide free home for them. There’s a bit of wilderness around you, and the farmer over the road’s organic, isn’t he? They’ll love it and it will bless you with fluttering galore especially if there’s nowhere else to live that’s safe and suitable for them.
