,
The deer are used to sharing the backyard spread with skunks.
.

.
But lately a trash panda is beating the stinky little critters to the buffet.
.

.
I’m thrilled because while we have nightly raccoons…
.

.
They rarely show up before it’s too dark to get a photo.
.

.
And though I’m tickled with the little masked bandits…
.

.
The deer don’t know what to make of him.
.

.
Especially when raccoon #2 waddles in.
.

.
Proving two raccoons is two too many.
🤣
.
Oh deer….lol. It seems they are very weary of the trash pandas 🤣.

Which I never knew, because they usually arrive after dark.

“Trashy panda” is a new one for me but so appropriate! 😂 I love seeing the deer moving in the same space as other creatures.

People call them trash pandas because they’ll raid garbage cans if given the chance. I just call them cute…

We’ve never had any problems with them. They started showing up to raid our bird feeders and the fallen seed, so now we put something out for them in the evenings. They come, they eat, they leave. No problem.

I’m not sure if California has a “Stand Your Ground” law, but one day we were cooking outside in Yosemite and a raccoon came between our cooking and our cabin. It was not inclined to give way and it was a while before we knew it wasn’t going to challenge us for our food.

They’re wily little devils. We’ve had them steal corn right out of the pot.

Now you need an Antelope to play with the Deer so I can sing!

The “masked bandit” is healthier than ours. He relocated from Florida to Maine!

Lucky you!! Our woodchuck is back, but no raccoons in our backyard. At least none that I have ever seen.

This is unusual. We rarely see them before dark..

Ours was wandering all over the yard in broad daylight the past two days.

They tend to be nocturnal. Ours are showing up at dusk to beat the fox and skunks to the buffet, I’d be a little leery of one wandering around in broad daylight.
