.
We woke up Christmas Eve morning to a winter wonderland.
.

.
A deep snow had fallen overnight and I couldn’t have been happier.
.

.
It was the beautiful kind that coats the trees…
.

.
And frosts everything in white.
.

.
It continued for most of the morning.
.

.
Giving us the feeling we live in a snow globe.
.

.

.

.
Now this is winter!
.

.
And while my husband went out to shovel a path so he could feed the birds…
.

.
I filled the house with the scent of cinnamon and nutmeg by baking an apple pie.
.

.
We may have scaled back our holiday celebration this year, but it turned out perfectly anyway.
.

.
A front porch picture frame.
😊
.

.
And look! My husband finally put one of those stupid wooden yardsticks he’s always buying to use.
13 inches.
👍
And as soon as I posted our glorious snow photos on Facebook?
.

.
A memory of a previous Christmas trip popped up.
.

.
Florida holidays are fun…
But they never really feel like Christmas to this Yankee girl.
😉

Wow! The snow looks so beautiful! 13 inches! I downloaded one of your pictures to paint for my home–I hope you don’t mind.

I don’t mind at all.
Actually, I’m flattered.

I couldn’t go for all snow, all winter, but I do enjoy the views from the different windows and walking up to town with Cathy for a cup of coffee. My cheap ass Old Navy pea coat keeps me warm all the way there and my astronaut grade snow boots keep my butt the appropriate distance from the ground at all times.
I think your apple pie looks fabulous and it’s great that you just went out there and cranked one out. We make some good food here but it usually requires planning.
What a great holiday, good for you.

We rarely have all snow all winter, though I prefer it to melting and ice.
And thanks, the pie was yummy.

I’m going to be honest, I’m envious because we haven’t had snow since last January. And it was only 3 1/2 inches. And it’s going to be 65 degrees here today. What I’m not envious about is having to try and navigate snow that’s 13 inches because, that would be a disaster.

I don’t mind navigating in the snow, it’s the sleet and ice that’s supposed to start tomorrow I hate.

The pretty pictures led me to researching the blue tint – can’t say I understand it all – but it sure is pretty.

I think it has something to do with water content…

Yeah. I see that and all I can think is, “Who’s going to shovel that? Oh, right. Me.”
It is beautiful, but in a only wanna visit, don’t wanna live there kinda way.
That snow-covered table looks like a massage table.
Worst. Massage. Ever. Brr!

I love the change of seasons and always missed fall and winter when we lived down south.
And if it’s winter?
I want snow!

Snow, lots of snow. So much better than ice. The pictures are beautiful. We hit 6″ overnight Fri-Sat but I would enjoy twice that amount falling.

The more we get at one time, the more I like it!

That reminds me of the mountains, the Catskills! Looks cold. I remember kind of helping my brothers shovel snow. We now all live in milder areas where winter is not quite the flavor. We had a big farm with 2 barns, horses, goats, chickens, and a bull. Oh, dogs, and cats. My parents were like the Beverly Hillbillies, from NYC relocating. My mom was like Zza Gabor but it made us get character, quickly! Best wishes for a happy and pretty New Year!

But I like Florida, so I will take it! And my brother is most likely at home in Northern California.

Sounds like my kind of place. 😊
We relocated to Maine from New Jersey when I was young, though my mother was pure NYC Zsa Zsa as well.
All the best for your (green) New Year!

Just beautiful! I was glad to get some sunshine today after a lot of SoCal rain, but it never feels quite right to me either.

Christmas + December = Snow.
It’s the only equation that works for me.

White Christmases are the best, and a small but deserved consolation prize for your ruined trip.

It definitely helped.

How perfectly lovely! I really wanted a white Christmas, but alas, we had to settle for a white four-days-after-Christmas. Not quite the same.

We rarely perfect timing like this.

We had a big snow mid-December, and it was soooo nice to have any at all in the month of December. A little dusting again a couple of days before Christmas, so I’m callin’ it a White Christmas (based on our climate change sliding scale).😁

White Christmas used to be a given in Maine… now? You never know.

It does look like you’re in the middle of a snowglobe! And your pie looks yummy and I can only imagine the smell inside your home. I’m glad you guys had a good Christmas, in spite of missing your trip.

It was quiet.
But we like quiet…
