Winter critters and wet paws.

.

Percy the opossum has become a daily visitor, cleaning up spilled seed under the bird feeders.

.

,

We also caught him on the kitchen landing during a snow dusting.

.

.

The garage door was open…

.

.

But he headed for the barn instead.

.

.

Mrs. Cardinal in the garage gutter.

,

.

Our buck still hasn’t lost his rack…

.

.

Which makes me wonder if he ever will.

.

.

Strolls with Lord Dudley Mountcatten are severely short in the winter.

.

.

As His Royal Highness does not enjoy the cold, wind, snow….

.

.

Or having wet feet.

.

.

Deer, heading back to the woods.

  1. Lovely photos.

I was really expecting the opossum to enter the garage. So, I was surprised the barn was chosen. I thought the door being ajar would be tempting.

I can imagine the cat paws being shaken to get the wetness off.

  2. Love the picture of the deer heading back to the woods. His Highness has a leash and the husband walks him….wow….one interesting cat. I remember in the Catskills growing up we used to head down to the river to watch the beavers build on the dam. In some places, leaving the garage door open is an open invite for snakes. I remember years ago in grad school helping an older Professor’s wife with cleaning. She kept asking me, “The garage door is shut, right?” Now, I get it. Enjoy Saint Patrick’s Day.

    1. We lost our last cat to the road and I swore I’d never let that happen again. He’s a very skittish boy and runs when scared. The leash is the only way to give him some fresh air and exercise without losing him.
As for snakes we only have little green garden ones, in the summer.

      1. I understand. That is how we lost Sheba. She was a stray who wandered on to our property. We have good snakes nearby but it is Florida and there are lots of snakes, not good. And lakes, nearby. No pythons, yet.

Even before our heatwave (still 68° at 1am) my raccoon count went from 10 per night to 3, opossums from 3 to 1, and skunks from ?? Ato 2 or 3.

    I love the darl opossums!
