Blowing coat and taking name.

We have green grass!

And deer.

.

.

Our resident buck has finally dropped that pesky second antler and is in the process of blowing his winter coat.

.

No, we don’t say shedding in Maine.

No, I don’t know why.

I always think adult male deer look wonky with those big knobs on their heads in the spring.

.

But judging from the tongue sticking out of his mouth, he doesn’t much care what I think.

      1. Wymans are absolutely real wild Maine blueberries! Frozen right after picking from their 10,000 acres in my beautiful state. Family owned since 1874.

  1. I think “blowing their coat” is very much a northern term, because there is so much fur on animals like huskies and Siberian cats. Southern climes see shedding year round, but the spring phenomenon of blowing a heavy winter coat all at once? It’s crazy.
