.
Our new storm door is Lord Dudley Mountcatten’s most favorite thing in the world right now. As soon as we swing back the kitchen door in the morning and allow him viewing access? He’s perched. Watching the world go by at perfect kitty height.
He watches birds. The rain. Squirrels. A leaf blowing by. It doesn’t matter… he’s there. And riveted.
So when I heard him cackling the other day I figured it must be something good.
.

.
And it was.
.

.
A baby woodchuck climbed the stairs to the landing and lay down on the welcome mat.
Right there.
In front of His Lordship.
.

.
It was almost too much for a cat to bear.
.

.
That little chucker got comfy… and stayed.
.

.
No matter how crazy it drove our resident feline.
.
.
🤣
.
Those eyes…. Good Lord!!!! (hahahaaa)
The chuckster was simply responding to the “welcome” on the mat!

“Open the pod bay doors, HAL.”
“I’m sorry, Dave, I can’t do that.”

It would have been interesting, but no.

Our cats used to sit by the door until we’d open it so they could look out. We never had anyone camp out on the porch thought. That’s too cute.

It really was.

That’s either one brave, or one foolish, or one naive baby woodchuck. Than again, it’s not like Lord D. can get to the other side of the door on his own.

I don’t think the chuck even knew he was there.

I’m amazed your lordling wasn’t attacking the door!

He cackled, he reached, he watched.
All to no avail…

It was very tempting to invite him in…

That’s so cute. You’re making me miss my cat Olive. She loved to look out the sliding glass door and whack at the quail who would peck at their reflections in the glass. Then she had a perch in my closet. There’s a window at 10 feet high with a shelf that she sit at and watch the birds. I don’t know how she’d get up there!

Cats can be amazing acrobats. And climbers!

I saw Olive Bear jump high one time. But other times, with clothes on the floor….Maybe clawing her way up?

We had a cat who used to claw their way up my drapes, so… yes.

Love how their whiskers stand out when they are excited. Wonder what’s going through that little chuck’s mind?!?!

That is adorable the baby chuck just plopped down and said “I’m good” regardless of the proximity to His Lordship and humans alike.
