A walk around the gardens finds astilbe.
.

.
In light pink and dark.
.

.
Blanket flower.
.

.
And bee balm.
.

.
In similar shades and different places.
.

.
Day lilies are popping.
.

.

.
As is the Russian sage and some dianthus.
.

.
Then there’s this…
.

.
Which is pretty but unknown… as I can’t remember its name.
.

.
Marguerite daisies in front of the baby barn.
.

.
And some candy cane dianthus to finish.
😊
Note – these pics were taken a few weeks ago when our lawn was still green. Sadly, we’re browning and crunchy now from lack of rain.

It’s all so beautiful!!
I have a big “russian sage” (probably mexican sage bush)… probably 6′ diameter and 4′ high. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees like the flowers after they turn white. I like that it prefers being under-watered! Once I stopped watering, it grew like crazy!!

Thank you.
I just planted that sage, hope it does well.

Good luck!! They seem to like being treated poorly!

It looks like you went outside and planted a few things! Beautiful!

Thanks. These are mostly perennials, but I did add the sage this year.

Yeah, I have been doing some transplanting but is is the height of summer here, so….not a great time to plant.

Thank you. Though please note I didn’t photograph the weeds…

I am so envious of those glorious blooms. My part sun/part shade gardens struggle with color, and I have succumbed to hostas, which I have to admit look good in their own quiet way. But one advantage to living by the woods: the lawns still look pretty green.

We went from lush and green to brown and crunchy in mere weeks. It’s so dry now we don’t even want to mow…

Sigh.

Hopefully, some rain relief will be on the way to you this week to positively impact that “brown and crunchy.” We’ve had a better balance of moisture landing this summer, so we’re “green and quiet” here. The flowers are beautiful.

We had a wet spring and early summer but July has been awful. Some high heat to dry everything out and then virtually no rain for weeks. That last batch skipped right past us. My fingers are crossed for Monday.

All our fresh blooms are long gone now, too. Hope you get some rainy relief as we just did.
