.
One question.
One minute, tops.
.

.
This is a tough one. If we still had a mortgage, I probably would have said that because it was a doozy … but that’s not a life long bill. It just felt that way.
And with the uncertainty in the Middle East, filling our tanks with heating oil this winter is going to make my cry, no doubt about that.
But I think I’ll have to choose groceries.
.

.
We may not live in a mansion, may not drive Ferraris, but we like to eat … and we eat well. Which results in some eye popping receipts at the grocery store. Have you priced a decent pot roast these days? It’s criminal.
So yes. I’ll pick free groceries for life.
With all the money I’ll save, I’ll be picking out that Ferrari before you can say 5 pound boneless chuck.
How about you?
What bill do you want paid for life.
.
Healthcare for me, please!

Yes. That’s a good one.
We’re blessed with great coverage from my husband’s military service but it’s a major issue in this country.

Groceries is a good one, so is health care and then there are utilities – but I’m going to choose housing. Not everyone owns a house and even if your mortgage is paid there are property taxes, repairs, upkeep or even ill health and assisted living accommodations – so yes, please I want a roof, and a nice one, over my head for my whole life.

That’s true. Our mortgage is long paid off but the taxes are rising astronomically and I fear we’ll be needing a new roof sooner than later.
Ka-Ching!

Eating out at expensive restaurants and having the bill always paid including a very generous 30 percent tip and drinks. Bill paid, please, and no regrets when it reads $150 for dinner or lunch or more.

That sounds heavenly!

It does, doesn’t it and I get to choose the restaurants, mostly. We do eat less and we are both good cooks but as we get older, this splurge would be nice. It is very expensive eating out.

Very expensive, and only getting worse.
We go out for a nice meal once a week. What used to cost $150 is now closer to $200 with cocktails. And that’s lunch.

We go out for brunch. Both of us are very light eaters. As long as I have my coffee, I am good. I look with amazement at a friend and her husband who seem to eat every meal out. And then they post pics!

I like to cook and we eat most meals at home but if we’re out for an event or running errands …we love to try new places.

Yeah, we do that too but it can be challenging as Mike’s medications sometimes don’t mix well with all foods and I just lose my appetite. I guess thin is in.

Both my husband and I are veterans, so happy with healthcare and we are well treated. It is good to know.

That should have read “thin” not this.
Stupid spellcheck.

Yeah you know it’s bad when you get burgers & fries and two bottles of water (Not talking about Fast Food) for $50

It’s crazy.
The husband picked up Chinese the other night… 1 shrimp lo mein, 1 beef fried rice and some wonton soup. $55.
It’s nuts!

Yes, exactly. An order like that used to.be pretty cheap 🫤. As much as I want to offer support to local business’s We tend to try to.only eat out when on vacation. It’s definitely no longer affordable as a daily thing.

It’s not.
We picked up two small pizzas from a local place last week and it was almost $40.
Smalls.

We also had Chinese Food the other night: Fried Scallops (for 2), Vegetable Lo Mein for 2, and a side order of sweet fried plantains (It was a fusion place, Chinese and Mexican). Our cost? $21. 00. Did yours get served with golden chopsticks?

Damn! You can’t get two Big Mac meals for that here.
No golden chopsticks. Eating out is just very expensive in Maine…

The tax bill. We live in an area that has high rates. Even though we knocked them down a bit after getting our property reassessed, they are on the rise again.

It would be lovely not to worry about the cost of groceries but I think home repair/maintenance coverage would do it for me.

Yes, groceries. That way I could buy all the organic food I wanted and not have to worry about price.

Wow, lots of good ideas here… makes it hard to choose just one… but if I had to choose I’d probably go with groceries too. I just spent a couple hundred dollars today grocery shopping… for two people.

A week.
And I still run out of things and have to go back.

Ha! I hear you.
At one time ours were astronomical but we cut all but one up years ago, paid off a consolidation loan and now pay the lone survivor off every month for whopping points.
