New Year’s celebrations?

.

If you’re like me your New Year’s Eve went something like this –

Cook dinner, eat, do dishes and clean up kitchen.

Wash face, brush teeth, change into pajamas with plans of watching a movie and ringing in the New Year with spouse and a nice bottle of wine.

Have one glass of wine, watch half the movie, fall asleep.

.

.

Oh, how times change.

We were going to meet two other couples for a New Year’s Day boozy brunch but I got a text yesterday morning saying a good friend was in the hospital with bacterial pneumonia that had spread to her bloodstream.

.

.

So off to the hospital we went. With New Year’s themed flowers.

Thankfully she’s on the mend, getting strong IV antibiotics and breathing more easily.

We spent a few hours cheering her up and then laughed at the sticker on the car next to us in the parking lot.

.

.

Hope your New Year’s Eve and Day were more fun than ours.

.

.

However you chose to celebrate.

🤣

.

It certainly doesn’t look like 3+ hours work.

.

First, I weeded the garden bed.

.

.

Which…. when you’re old adjacent at 59 and have a blown knee… isn’t as much fun as it used to be.

.

.

Then I sprinkled a container of shake and feed bloom booster.

And worked it into the soil with a blister boosting rake.

.

.

Then I watered the soil and planted the few flowers the woodchucks left me.

.

.

Three hours plus for a few measly perennials.

.

.

$200 worth of flowers barely made a dent. That’s just wrong.

🥴

.

Because apparently sleeping can be dangerous.

.

It’s official,

I have reached that age.

.

.

I woke up the other morning with a slight pain on the left side of my neck… but didn’t think much about it and went about my day.

Until I couldn’t.

Until I realized the mere act of sleeping has rendered me into a blubbering idiot positively alight with pain. It seems I pinched a nerve and holy hell does it hurt. 24 hour burning, tingling, numbness and sharp spasms of agony every time I move my head. I’ve never pinched a nerve before and let me tell you, I don’t want to do it again.

The doctor said to alternate cold packs and the heating pad, take ibuprofen for swelling, rest, sit up straight to correct my overall posture and perform this series of exercises.

.

.

I’m doing all that and nothing helps. After reading it can take 6-8 weeks to heal I’m quasi suicidal… so what have you got? Ever experienced this, and if so what did you do for relief? At this point I’m open to all cures… so please include your witch doctor’s phone number or voodoo priestess’s email.
