First let’s deal with the peckers.
Because we all know not paying attention to peckers makes them crazy.
This is a hairy woodpecker.
Why hairy?
Your guess is as good as mine.
He loves the peanut nugget feeder and is an expert at extracting them.
There.
Now you can say you’ve had a hairy pecker wink at you.
This is a downy woodpecker.
Why downy?
Your guess is as good as mine.
To be honest, he looks more like a Storm Trooper from Star Wars to me.
Then we have a pair of Mallard ducks who visit daily.
The female strolls around under the bird feeder collecting scraps….
While the drake plops down and takes a load off.
That’s one chill duck.
Big Tom turkey?
Yes, we have one of those too.
And finally, a Baltimore Oriole getting his junk food Jones satisfied with some grape jelly.
It would be nice if he didn’t poo all over the feeder…. but hey.
Who am I to judge?
they are no kinder to bird baths. then again what’s a dirty bird to do ?

I fill our bath 3 times a day in the summer. Our birds must be especially dirty…

The orioles are so bright and beautiful. It’s like watching navel oranges fly through the sky.

I haven’t seen one here for a long time.

They come here late spring thru early summer. When you see the first one you have to put out oranges, nectar or grape jelly right away. If you have nothing they want? They move on.

We do have oranges out, but not sure who’s eating them.

I have to bring ours in at night or the raccoon gets them.

Thanks for showing us your peckers. It makes me wish I had a picture of my pecker to show you…. but I don’t have one. Nor a picture of my booby, nor a picture of my tit…..
Man, whoever named birds must have had a juvenile sense of humor…

You have a lot of peckers in your yard. Sort of like a Texas backyard barbecue … lots of peckers pecking at food …

There never seems to be a lack of peckers. Whether you want them or not…

The Hairy Woodpecker was named after its discoverer, Mr. Harold Woodpecker…

I put out a second bird feeder. I strung up some oranges. Now I just have to figure out how to get grape jelly out there. THEN I will get a photo of my bird thing. I’ve had 2 yellow and 1 orange oriole do fly bys. My humming bird feeder is a busy place.
