Flowers.
That’s what you get for the outrageously high property tax bills the town of Kennebunk sends out twice a year.
.

.
But what lovely flowers they are.

.
Every free space in the village is filled with them.

It’s impressive and quite beautiful.

Is it any wonder President Bush’s family has their summer home in Kennebunkport?
.
Delivered some *mumble* to President Bush’s house, once. It was a terror taking over 50′ of semi-truck there, but I had the best escort in and out of their that a driver ever had. Think I may have squashed some of them posies with my wheels, and would have surely been hit with some hefty fines if it hadn’t been for the escort taking responsibility for getting the truck in.
It was my first introduction to New England ‘chowdah’. I could have eaten my weight in it. It was hell being polite and refusing a second helping.

I can see how it would be a nightmare in a big rig. But yes, our chowder is like liquid crack. One bowl and you’re hooked.

Love Kennebunkport. We used to visit every summer in the 60’s ~ eating fried clams at the Clam Shack on the bridge. 😀

Clam Shack is still there, and still popular.

We stayed in Kennebunkport on our last trip to Maine . . . at the Colony Hotel . . . before taking a windjammer cruise out of Rockport for 3 days and concluding at the Balance Rock Inn in Bar Harbor for 3 more. Great time. But it’s been awhile. That was 2004. We are OVERDUE!

Now that sounds like a great trip.

But what do you get in the wintertime, when it’s too cold for flowers?

Beautiful Xmas trees and decorative balsam wreaths.
And snow. There’s always plenty of that..

It really is pretty! I suppose they don’t have critters around eating them? Or perhaps Security keeps them at bay. 😉

You rarely see woodchucks in town. They’re a country destructor.
