Maine is well known for its lobster and blueberries, but here are two other regional items with which you may be unfamiliar.

Yes, we put mashed potatoes in candy. And if you’ve never had one of these delicious treats? You won’t believe how tasty chocolate covered taters can be.
.
.
I admit I’ve never tried this.
And to be honest, I probably never will. If you’ve ever walked the clam flats of a Maine beach at low tide in the summer?
The smell is not what you would call tea worthy.
Trust me on this.

If there’s truth in advertising, I’ll pass on the “bladderwrack.”

My mom makes potato candy. The potato part is pretty much the same, but she spreads peanut butter on it, rolls it up and cuts it into pinwheels. It almost makes me want to go home.

I have a bit of confidence in “Sailor’s cure all”. Nothing cures what ails you quite like puking your guts out. Navy knowhow, working for America.

This is a Marine Corps household, I’m afraid we can’t accept Navy cures.

Just curious — would you eat a certain chocolate-covered hairy red squirrel if someone could catch and get her out of your hair once and for all?

I just had the pleasure of going to Maine for the first time a couple months ago! It was breathtaking. I missed the potato candies, but DID try a potato doughnut!

I adore them, but my husband is not a donut fan, so I rarely partake. Such a pity…

I love Potatoes so the candy sounds cool. I also like Seaweed so I would try the Tea.

I actually have a chocolate cake recipe that requires mashed potatoes. I haven’t made it in years but it was moist and delicious. Maybe it could be served with blueberries and lobster also Nova Scotia favs.

It took me a minute to cook this up so please forgive me. Potato candy: The best thing to come out of Aroostook county since I-95.

Got it, thank you. Lynette helped me out with Okanagan and my brain feels better all the time. If you ever hear me speak, there will be no doubt I’m not a local. It has been my experience, however, that the locals will cut me a little slack if they think I am making an effort.

Lots of Maine places are pronounced incorrectly, some even by Mainers. We have a lot of Indian names and they can be a mouthful.
