Every morning for the past week I’ve woken up to honking. Not inner city traffic and pissed off commuters, but honking all the same.
.

.
Canada geese are on their way north, and the river behind our house is a veritable goose super highway. No need for an alarm clock when these fellows are overhead…. they’re loud!
.

.
Large groups and small, for the first hour after dawn the sky is full of travelers.
.

.
A raucous and sure sign spring is on the way.

I’m sure ready for it!

Know what else is heading North? Snowbirds and their monstrous RV’s, that clog up our interstates.

So, we live in the outer Houston area. The geese were here for the winter ( they are Snow geese and Blue geese) but packed up the last 2 weeks of February and headed north. There were hundreds flying over daily. It was awesome. We hate to see them go because we know that means in about 3 months the nasty heat will be here. 😦

And yet we love it because it means the end of winter. Or it’s supposed to..

Well that kind of honking I can deal with. Here we have nothing to give us a natures notice the seasons are changing…okay we might but I don’t pay attention. What I’m trying to say is you have all kinds of wonderful wildlife crossing your path. I have Black Hawk and Medivac helicopters flying overhead every single day of the week…..🙄🤨.

We lived in a military town for years. 46s, 53s, Cobras, Hueys…. all day and night. It’s the sound of freedom, or so they say.

For some reason, Canadian geese seem to just give up over Rapid City. They’re here all year long. In fact, there’s a flock right outside my office window as I type this comment. As messy as they are, I’d be okay if they decided to migrate for a change.
