.
It was a bright and sunny evening at Casa River and after a full day of yard work we decided to drive along the coast of Harpswell and have dinner on the water.
.

.
The closer we got, the thicker the fog. This restaurant is crazy crowded when the summer tourists descend so we’d hoped to beat the swarm and grab an outdoor table to enjoy the view.
.

.
But the view was pea soup fog so we hit the bar instead. A few blueberry lemonades later..

We ate a very disappointing meal. My $30 fried scallops were tasty but not plentiful and though I ordered a baked potato I received french fries because they had run out. And if that’s not bad enough, it was served in a paper lined wire basket more reminiscent of a lobster shack than fine dining. The husband’s scallop and lobster pasta had 3 scallops and 3 minuscule pieces of lobster for $40. While we never mind paying good money for a good meal, this longtime favorite place might be in danger of being dropped from our list.
.

.
That’s a drag. I hope they can pull it together.

Might have just a been bad night. I’m always willing to try again but the husband is less forgiving…

Sounds like another couple I know. Not that I’m ready to hear about a lobster supply chain issue.

What a shame. The food looks good, but yeah…sounds like the value was definitely lacking.

I just hate that wire basket thing when I’m paying $140 + tip for dinner…

Totally agree. It’s pretty tacky.

With so many restaurants here I am constantly surprised how the better ones don’t live up to their own standards!!

Well I’m sorry your dinner wasn’t what you expected. If this place had been great before maybe it was just a bad night. Let’s hope they can kick it up a notch next time.

It’s so hard to find a place that has the good location as well as good food. Tourists don’t care what they’re eating or paying as long as it’s on the water…. I need both.

Incredible shrinking products………..strikes again.

I know people complain about rising prices, but at times I’d rather keep the quantity and quality and pay more.

Pasta is cheaper than scallops and lobster, and his bowl seems to reflect a serious kitchen cost cutting measure. I have learned to actually ASK how many scallops I can expect….how many shrimp I can expect….and French fries instead of a baked potato?? Yeah. Deal breaker for me.

The worst part was they didn’t even ask me about a substitute. Just slung a basket full of fries at me. 😡

Makes it harder to tip, huh?

In this case, she was at fault.
