.
Since the stone border was complete, it was time for the next step. Garden soil.
.

.
Thankfully our local Agway had a giant pile and it was only a few miles away.
.

.
(Action shot)
Though why my husband kept bringing back such small piles I don’t know.
.

.
He made 7 trips, half a yard each time. And I kept spreading it while he went back for more.
.

.
I’m hoping it’s good soil.
.

.
But I’ll mix some fertilizer in before I plant just in case.
.

.
Another action shot.
.

.
It should not surprise you to learn that halfway through the process the husband decided I was raking incorrectly and relieved me of the job.
🤣

It’s looking good! Y’all are like Ying and Yang, I love it! He’s the Superman to your Batman! 😝

I really didn’t. I thought I was doing a good job!

I think we need an action shot to evaluate this raking incorrectly charge that has been levied against you.

My form was excellent. Smooth strokes, gentle pressure. He’s crazy.

Tines up when you want to smooth the surface without moving lots of material. I’m here for you, Riverdude. On a related matter, I’m loving your black dirt, wish I had some.

This isn’t my first rodeo bud. Tines were up when needed.

Bud…love that 😉 Here’s a question that’s burning in the collective unconscious. The “tines down” photo clearly shows a beautifully manicured thumbnail, cut square (Blunt? Nail salon terminology is a couple steps outside my wheelhouse.) with a French tip. Yours? Hmmm. So, who took the picture? My money’s on satellite reconnaissance.

I took the picture, with my other hand. My talents are wide and varied.

So it would seem. That’s the part where I drop my phone.

Let me think. 1. Flower bed. 1. Full of soil. 1. Adding fertilizer. 1. But not seeding. Add them all up, 1+1+1+1=1. Next season — if not sooner — you should have a 1 wonderful bed of weeds.
And if you don’t, tell us, why not!

It’s so dry right now I probably won’t do anything till next year.

Glad to see your bum knee has (apparently) healed….at least to the point where you can wield a rake (but not a shovel). 😀

Sadly, it hasn’t. I live with everyday pain, doctors appt at the end of the month.

Oh, FYI, you don’t want dirt or mulch covering the base of the tree (the root flare). Do a quick Google on tree planting. I love the stone – it looks great!

I know, it was my husband’s idea to fill the soil to the rim of the border. I argued against it and lost. Time will tell.

We didn’t plant that tree it just sprung from a stray seed… and it’s been quite rugged so hopefully it can survive the onslaught.

I love the action shots.
I mean, it’s obvious that you don’t have a Raking Degree.
