I think we’re down to two baby woodchucks now.
.

.
There were originally seven…. and I’m choosing to believe momma just booted them out of the den as opposed to the more disturbing killed and eaten by predator explanation.
.

.
The two remaining siblings stay pretty close together.
.

.
Especially when feeding.

Don’t want to think anything bad happened to the rest. I’ll go with your version, they were told to find their own digs.

I agree. No doubt these two have been allowed to hang around just a bit longer. The others started school out of town already.

Have you seen Momma Woodchuck lately? If not, it only adds to the mystery of the missing woodchucks. Time to call in Sherlock Woodchuck?

Mother is still here, but usually travels solo these days.

Hello Rivergirl! I found your blog through a comment you left on Bruce’s Walking Off the Chessboard, and I’m so glad I did. First of all, I love your theme photo. Those flowers are beautiful! Also, I enjoy your witty style. I’m sure I’ll be back. Best wishes to the woodchucks in their new home…because I’m sure that’s where they are!

Welcome! And thanks for dropping by. While I’ll never know the teenage woodchuck’s fate, I do know I gave them a happy and veggie filled childhood to start them off right.

Maybe the others went off on an adventure somewhere, hitchhiking across the country. Even woodchucks experience wanderlust.

I’m glad the two are keeping an eye on each other. Now I’ve got Cat Stevens “Oh, Baby, Baby, it’s a wild world” stuck in my head…

I saw a fox take a woodchuck baby last year. But only when they’re small.
