.
We set off early Tuesday morning and it was a perfectly beautiful day. Sunny, with a delightful bite of crisp fall air.
.

.
We hit the western Maine mountains before 10….
.

.
And the New Hampshire White Mountains shortly after. Leaves were just beginning to turn and it was wonderful.
At 1:00?
.

.
Hello Vermont! We’ve missed you.
And you’re welcome, though I’m not sure what we did to deserve your thanks.
If you’ve never been to Vermont? I have one word for you… go!
Verdant green fields and barn red barns. Gentle rolling hills and well tended farms. Picturesque mountain villages and of course, cows.
.

.
It’s gloriously scenic, delightfully quirky, and utterly addicting.
.

.
We were sad to see The Farmer’s Daughter gift shop had lost its daughter. There used to be a large sign out front of a farm girl with her skirt blown up… but all that’s left now are the hands, hanging disembodied and more than a little creepy.
We did see a giant hammer wind mill down the road…
.

.
But it doesn’t bring the same smile to your face as that saucy wind blown wench.
When we headed north and west towards our resort, the weather took a turn.
.

.
Eerie, ominous skies dominated the rest of the way and by the time we arrived in the little town of Jeffersonville?
.

.
Rain. And so much high fog you couldn’t see the mountains.
To be continued….
.
Thank you for taking us along!…

I drove through Vermont years ago, around 1983. It was beautiful. Looks like it still is.

Growing up, we visited relatives in Vermont 3-4 times a year. The visits have trailed off . . . so I’ll enjoy this vicarious virtual visit!
Have a great time!

I’m sure even bad weather in Vermont is great. Looking at the scenery and beautiful foliage, I would revel in just driving through such picturesque beauty!

Very Jelly! We were just about to cross into Vermont last year when my liver detoured us. We’ll get back!

We’re dipping our feet back in. Just road tripping for short periods for now.. still working out the pet sitting situation.

The mini trip to Vermont was our first time leaving him. He survived, but made us pay the price when we returned.

I dread to think what “paying the price” might mean, but I’m pretty sure I have an idea.

At first it was slight, ignoring us and not eating. Then… let’s just say his aim was off and leave it at that.
🤣

If you’re speaking of #1, not as bad as I’d imagined. I was thinking he’d be leaving you another kind of deposit, so to speak. 💩

No, I was speaking of #2. An artfully placed pile..

Oh, dang. May I ask if he was watched in-home or sent to a sitter? I ask because we’re going to need to board the cats eventually and I’m nervous about their response. They’ve taken well to an in-home sitter, but they’re not always available.

Our neighbor came in once a day. Lord Dudley would never tolerate being boarded. Our neighbor sent us daily updates and only glimpsed him once in three days.

OK, good to know. Our cats are pretty easygoing, but boarding is a whole ‘nother story. They’re super people-oriented, so we worry they’d freak out if someone just came in once a day. I plan on putting out a blog about our critter family in January, so we should know by then if/how they tolerated boarding. Yours truly,

Dudley is a very skittish cat, not people oriented at all. If a friend comes over for dinner? We won’t see him till the next day. He’d have a heart attack at a boarding facility.

In my experience dogs tolerate boarding much better than cats. The only time we ever boarded a kitty he got sick and had to go right to the vet for treatment. I won’t do it again.

Ughhhhh! Well, I’m glad the first time we’re going to try it we’ll be just 4 hours away by car and can zip home if needed. I would hate to do it if I were a plane ride away. Wish us luck!

I do. If the boarding facility is all cats it may be less traumatic.
