Does anyone even use recipe books anymore?
I had a giant stack of them collecting dust in a corner of our kitchen and finally decided to plow through the pile.
.

.
Those are the ones I gave away…
And though I tend to find most recipes online these days, these are the ones I couldn’t bear to part with.
.

.
And speaking of Dodo birds…
.

.
Does anyone else still have a bakers rack…
Or a mini stereo with an iPod dock that plays CDs?
I really need to update my life.
🤣

I totally had a binder like yours, mostly for printed recipes I’d scribbled over. When I went all digital I took photos of each page and organized them in the cloud. Man, I miss that binder, though. Good for you keeping what’s important to you.

That’s a good idea, I should digitize mine as well. Though I have to admit pieces of paper are easier to follow than constantly having to refresh a screen…

That’s what I mean by missing my binder – I wish I could have kept it. The digital versions are easier to reorganize, but I miss seeing certain handwriting like-size.

I keep a lot of recipes on my phone now and it’s great, but….

I’ve built two narrow bookcases for recipe books, and I don’t see them going anywhere. Some have notes stuck i them. Some have corrections written on the page. I also have magazines and woodworking plans that I’m sure are all available online, but I prefer being able to open the plans, lay them flat and look at them without having to put my tools down and fuss with my phone.

That’s why I couldn’t get rid of all of them…

I always have a copy of Fannie Farmer’s Cookbook. When it falls apart, I just get another one.

i use my recipe books all the time (but i only have about 10 total). i do not have a baker’s rack or a CD player. i have alexa “dots” in all of the main rooms and bathrooms, so when we want music we can either stream music in individual rooms or link them to play throughout the house. for outdoors or traveling, i use an Anker Bluetooth Speaker and stream through my phone to the speaker (really nice sound!). i honestly love the convenience of the “dots” and also have “smart plugs” and “smart bulbs” that turn on/off or dim the lights via voice command.

I have a nice portable Bose speaker, but you’re far ahead of me in the technology department. Of course I don’t want Jeff Bezos listening in on me 24/7 so there’s that.

I have both a binder and treasured cook books. Though there are probably a couple that can be donated like some old ones from my husband’s first marriage that he no longer uses. I have to admit I prefer to cook from a book.

Hey, I have cook books and still use them. I won’t dare part with them because they belonged to my mom and grandmother. I also have the same casserole cookbook you have on your shelf, lol. I also have a bakers rack, but currently it’s being used as a coffee bar for my Keurig and espresso machine. As for the mini stereo, no I converted to Apple Music and use a Bluetooth speaker for music. But, I do have a turn table for my small, but slowly growing vinyl collection.

I like the coffee bar idea. My turntable is in the man cave with my vinyl, though the husband put it so high up on the wall I need a step ladder to reach it.

We have gobs of cookbooks that the husband and I still use. I have a boom box in my classroom. All our CDs have been put on the computer, but we still have the CDs. Old school is the best school!

I love my vinyl for nostalgia but let go of cassettes and CDs. I have the giant iPod that holds 33,000 songs… I’m good.

We had a baker’s rack up until a few years ago, but alas, that too has gone the way of the Dodo bird in our household.
As much as I loved my iPod, no. I’m all about Spotify or vinyl these days.

I don’t want a monthly bill to listen to music. Says the woman with satellite radio in her car…

Ahh, but given all the money I paid iTunes over the years, I am definitely spending a lot less on music these days!

I have been gifted multiple cookbooks in my life, and I have to admit, I have never used a single one recipe from a book. I kept one on chocolate because chocolate leather bound with gold embossed lettering…
I do, however, elicit recipes from friends and family and cook those. Most of what I cook is from growing up at home, but I have saved a few winners on all recipes dot com.
I DO still own a baker’s rack, but now it’s more of a potting bench in the shed.
I no longer own a boombox, but I do think about buying one of those speaker things for my iPhone. I had one for my iPod, when iPods were a thing.
