My husband may not be a mailman, but his version of that age old creed says nothing will come between him and his television. Not even the ripping Maine N’or Easter with 50 mph winds and heavy wet snow that pummeled us yesterday leaving half our state without power.
Thankfully we never lost electricity… but when my spouse lost the satellite signal?
Out he went.
.

.
Digging in the shed for a ladder.
.

.
Trudging across the back lawn…
.

.
To knock the wet snow off the dish.
.

.
Reception restored, he trudged back in the house…
.

.
Only to return an hour later for more sweeping.
.

.
What can I say?
.

.
The man really likes his tv.
🤣
.
Priorities…
One of my thoughts when I was considering solar panels on my roof was whether there was a way to reverse the current and send it through heating cables to melt the snow from the panels so they would generate power again sooner. (Or windshield wipers on them.)

I don’t think so, but they both sound like good ideas.

It turned out not to matter, as I would have to reframe my 108 year old roof to be sturdy enough to support the panel weight.

The first job I had when I moved to Vermont was working at the local radio station as a general dogsbody. One of my jobs was shoveling the snow off the satellite dish – thankfully no ladder was needed – it was ground level on a small hill. (Talk about culture shock – being 44 years old and going from tooling around NYC in limos to shoveling snow off of a satellite dish and being chased by a pack of wild dogs…)

Most men will get motivated to do almost anything when a favorite show is threatened!

If I was in that situation with the slow wi-fi and broadband, that would be me.🙂

It’s not like he hasn’t seen them all 100 times before…

You need one of those heated satellite dishes… though they seem to attract cats!

Why are y’all still using a satellite dish? Wifi wireless cable is less disruptive and more cost efficient and our provider (SLING which is provided DISH network) has all the cowboy channels the hubs probably like to watch, lol. I have all 8 of them, it comes with the package.

You forget we live in the country where Wi-Fi is laboriously slow. We still have broadband… and cable isn’t available.

Ha! We had the aftershock of an earthquake here in Pa from a quake that happened in NJ

I saw that! I grew up in Jersey but never felt one…

Lots of snow here as well, and like you, feeling lucky the power didn’t go out. It’s April. I love snow, but this is getting old!

Normally it would bother me, but we had so little this winter it’s kind of fun…

He’s completely bereft when we lose power …

Thank goodness you don’t live in an igloo – with a glorious new floor 😉😂

That would be tough, no doubt.

Old westerns, old classic movies, old tv series… are you seeing the trend?
Otherwise it’s not stop politics.
And now you know why I read so much.

Pretty much exactly what I’d have guessed.
