Yes, you read that correctly.
We visited the Knob.
I admit to being Knob ignorant before a local told us about it….
But it was our last full day on the Cape and it was on our way to Woods Hole, so why not?
Of course I wasn’t exactly dressed for hiking…
But I never let improper footwear get in the way of a good time.
Most of the trek was through the woods.
But there were a few scenic spots along the way.
And a few blisters in the making later…
There it was.
The Knob.
And one adorable…
Very photogenic dog.
Who I made friends with while the husband…
Started talking politics with a nice guy we met along the way.
45 minutes and numerous dog photos later…
I finally got him on the move again.
Did I mention it was freezing cold with a biting wind?
Well, it was.
But we made it to the Knob….
Where I was glad to see they cared about their rocks.
Some Instagram girls were there ahead of us, making the most of the backdrop.
Until the husband promptly ruined it for them.
Well, if you insist.
The view from the Knob.
Knob seen and photographed, we headed back.
With the inventor of Trip Advisor’s house in the distance.
Duly warned against rock theft, we continued back to the car…
And peaceful Quissett Harbor.
Very nice. I remember it from PBS’s Mr. Roger’s Knobberhood…

It was a beautiful day…. now that you mention it.

Stealing rocks is never a good idea; unless they can fit discreetly in your pocket (of course)

Beautiful area. Nice doggy, too. No photos of black eyes so I take it the convo about politics was an agreeable one?

I thought I’d never, ever say this but….what a beautiful knob. Seriously, and the pup, where was he from? Was he there alone? He is cute for sure, just sitting there admiring the knob….
Thanks for the rock photos!

He belonged to the man husband was chatting with.
And if you e never said “beautiful knob” before? You clearly haven’t seen enough of them.

Sadly, your right….but there seems to be more knobs to see up east than down here, lol.

When I’d make trips to Kansas City for baseball games, I’d always pass a sign for the town of Knob Noster, Missouri. Never stopped there to see what inspired the name, though….

It’s called McAfee Knob. The most photographed spot on the Appalachian Trail.

Is it wrong to say I’m oddly disappointed?

“Knob seen and photographed, we headed back.” You are heading back for FOOD right?? Or just more rocks??
Was the dog’s owner there? Is that the guy your husband was talking to?
Inquiring minds want to know!

I’m afraid food will be a few posts from now. And yes, that man was the dog’s person.

“Until the husband promptly ruined it for them” — why? It looks like he was taking a leak, but it’s a natural area, and what could be more natural?

Well… he didn’t ruin it THAT much. But they still weren’t pleased….

Washington state has Noble Knob, tucked away in the mountains. The Knob you visited is definitely more knob-shaped.
Love the dog! Such dignity.
I think your husband should practice the art of photo-bombing. You could refer to him as the Photo Bomb Nob. Think of the fun you could have on future trips 😉

We had rocks, humor and a dog. The dog makes up for lack of food.

I would have loved a close up of the Instagram girl’s faces with being interrupted by your husband. 😆
