We have a raccoon who visits nightly. And while he’s a cute, pudgy old fellow… he’s extremely destructive when it comes to our birds feeders. Every morning we wake up to one or two on the ground, often in pieces. A month ago I started taking them down at dusk and putting them in the garage overnight. When I went to bed early last week and forgot? The husband got lazy and left them on the kitchen porch.

Not a good idea.

Not at all good.

Maybe he and the squirrel have formed an Alliance of Destruction with you as their main target… Hmmm, maybe Dudley should be let out, after all. 😉

That raccoon is twice Dudley’s size. Maybe thrice….

Squirrels, raccoons, woodchuck baby, turkeys – do you guys have anything left for the birds?

Don’t forget the skunks…. and the occasional opossum.

I didn’t mean to overlook anyone.

We have several grey squirrels that steal from our bird feeders. We have given up putting peanuts out, because they vandalise everything in pursuit of them.

I wouldn’t mind if the raccoon would just eat and leave, but he knocks the feeders down, breaks them and sometimes carries them off.

Maybe that means Mr Raccoon needs his own special A La River feeder, one he can reach.

Mr. Raccoon would polish off his feeder and still attack all the others.

Not a raccoon fan. They’re never as cute in person as they are in pics. And that waddle. It’s just creepy.
But I learned something new. I didn’t know raccoons like bird seed.

They’ll eat seed, but what they really love is the suet and peanut nuggets. We’ve even had them drain the hummingbird nectar.

I was so fond of raccoons as a kid, I used to long for one as a pet. Probably a really good thing that never happened.

When my husband was a kid he found an abandoned baby and raised it as a pet. His mother used to take it grocery shopping with her…. it rode in the cart like a baby.

It’s a shame that they are SO darn cute. But yes, they don’t give two poops about leaving a mess for you. 🙂

They’re adorable… if there’s nothing breakable in reach.

Mmmmm—a troublemaking squirrel, a bird feeder destroying racoon and a cat who wants to run away—maybe you should rethink how you treat creatures!!!

It’s not possible to treat them any better!

He’s adorable and an a-hole all at the same time. Sorry, feeling a bit aggressive today. Mona

They also stink. Especially when they take up residence in your parents’ attic. 🤮

No hunting allowed! I only make an exception for one always pregnant red squirrel.

They are raising holy hell around my place. They gotta go. I can’t afford to keep fixing everything those furry tail wreckers wreck.
