Baby woodchucks are starting to explore the back deck.

And have quickly figured out it’s a nice place to sit in the sun.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten assured me this beats watching Animal Planet on tv hands paws down.

Baby whistle pigs are fast, and fun to watch scampering around the deck.

His Lordship agrees .

His Lordship seems to have packed on a bit more junk in the trunk from that angle…lol. Those baby chuckers are cute as can be.

All hands — er, paws — on deck (except His Lordship, who I’m sure would like to join them, even if on a leash).

We had three red squirrels on our deck today, where our feeder is. We are presuming a daddy, a mommy, and a … The third one was almost mommy’s size, too big to be a this year’s baby unless it was born in February or March. That just seems too early, considering we still had winter in May.

A red squirrel’s gestation period is only 38 days. There can be multiple birth cycles a year…

I love seeing Lord Dudley Mountcatten watching the parade of visitors…and I also think he has a cool name.

Whistle pigs? Is that the sound they make?

Supposedly. But the only sounds I’ve ever heard them make are grunts and squeals.
