.
We didn’t have to look any further than out our balcony to find a stunning vista of changing leaves. Every morning the color was slightly different.
.

.
And you know I couldn’t resist that.
.

.
On our way out that morning I noticed a sign I hadn’t spotted the night before… and I had a hard time believing it wasn’t put there just for me.
.

.
No worries Pollard Brook Resort, I didn’t see any to feed… though I do take exception to the word varmint. In my experience, there are far more two legged ones of those.
.

.
Ah… I do love the mountains.
.

.
On the agenda that morning? Sabbaday Falls off the Kancamagus highway.
.

.
It won’t surprise you to learn my husband’s first thought when he read this was, “I wonder if the tools are still there…” Good thing he didn’t have a shovel handy.
.

.
It was just under half a mile hike to the falls.
.

.
Past a babbling brook and on a wide, leaf lined path.
.
.
As the elevation increased, fencing.
.

.
It was so beautiful. So peaceful…
.

.
A little farther on and the brook turned into a pool.
.

.
Surrounded by glacial boulders. I was in rock heaven…
.
.
And the husband was taking pictures, so you know it was good.
.

.
We’ve driven by this area numerous times but never took the time to stop. Clearly that was a mistake.
.

.
It took 10,000 years for water to wear down the rock and form the falls.
.

.
With my bad knee, it took me nearly half that time to climb all the stairs.
To be continued….
.
I agree with your take on varmints.

And the worst part? We elect them….

Well, none of the choices are appealing.

By choosing the lesser of two evils, you still get evil!

Beautiful scenery. I had to laugh at the thought of hubs looking for the tools. That was my first thought, too.

Of course the hubs wanted to see if he could find the tools, lol. It’s nice to know that there are places almost untouched by man that are so beautiful.

It’s packed with tourists in the summer, but off season we practically had the place to ourselves.

The downside of working on the farm during harvest is missing the fall colors.

Beautiful pictures. It seemed as though you had the entire area to yourself. Except for the critters. 💕

There were a few people scattered about, but not many.

I love the sound of rushing water, as do a lot of people. When younger, and living on the prairies, there were few places where rushing water could be heard. So my brothers, sisters, and little me would collect rocks and mini-boulders, take them to a quiet stream, and place them so the water would have to rush around them. Now I wish I could remember where we did that. I would love to know if the rapids we built are still there. We actually got quite good at designing them. One place we worked on for a month, and we made a quarter mile rapids. The farmers thanked us for clearing their field of rocks.
Meanwhile, I hope you have visited the Rockies since you love mountains, and rocks. Fun pics.

I haven’t, but it’s on the bucket list.

Start in Banff, and take the highway up to Jasper. You will be stopping every few miles for astonishing pictures. Then, head up to Grande Prairie, and fly “over the Rockies” to Vancouver in the daytime. You won’t be able to stop for pictures in the plane, but your mental camera will be working overtime. (Oops, make sure you fly on a cloudless day. And get a window seat!) From Vancouver take the Pacific Coast Highway down to San Francisco, and fly back to New York. A trip you will never forget!

Those BRIGHT blue skies. The lovely foliage. Your cute face. This is all so lovely. I really like the name of the falls…much better than some boring name like yadda yadda falls.

It doesn’t get any better than autumn in New England.
