Miscellaneous snippets.

A little bit of this and a whole lot of nothing.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten … taking a break from strolling to survey his domain.

You either get it or you don’t.

My husband went to the original Woodstock, then turned around and left… saying it wasn’t his scene.

Clearly he didn’t get it.

Book banning?

Huge pet peeve.

.

.

Funny how that works.

King Eider’s is a fun pub on the coast.

Their sign is always equally as fun.

  1. We have, as I am sure you can imagine, a lot of people here who really love Jesus A LOT. Lucky him. They really love the good ol’ USA, we all know what that looks like; lucky us. There’s a bit of noise in our local area about our libraries and all the horrible filth and bad ideas they fill our minds with.
It should be pointed out that this despicable behavior is not limited to homophobic zealots, gunning for J.D. Salinger, but also racists gunning for Mark Twain and sexists gunning for Chaucer. “Those who know what’s best for us must rise and save us from ourselves”. Thanks, Neil.
I love the Woodstock comic. I could never go there, too many people. I was only eight when the first one happened, but the movie was great. Good post, hope you’re doing OK.

    1. I’m thankful to live in a state that holds reading and knowledge in high regard. We have our share of racists and zealots but thankfully they’re not in the majority, or the government.
I was too young for Woodstock as well. The movie was on tv here recently… I made my husband sit down and watch it to see what he missed. It probably won’t surprise you to hear he fell asleep after the first half hour.

    2. Living in Western Canada, a homeless hippie, I never heard about Woodstock until it was over. What I wouldn’t have done to be there. I never heard about Altamont either until it was too late. Knowing the outcome, I rejoiced I wasn’t there!

  2. Ditto on the books, as someone who LOVES to read and cherishes books this more than burns my biscuits! My parents had made plans to travel to Woodstock from California. They never made it, I still don’t know why. His Lordship looks so regal no matter what he’s doing 😁.

    1. Not to mention The Dead, Creedence and CSN&Y. Greatest rock and roll event in history… and I married the man who turned around and left.
      How is this possible?

      2. Hey Snowflake, , here is an idea! Ban NO books That way I can insist that all schools (K-12) carry “Mein Kampf” By Adolf Hitler, “The Art of War” by Sun Tzu, “Agenda 21” by Glenn Beck, “The Enemy Within” by Rush Limbaugh…and my favorite, “That every Man be Armed”, by Stephen Halbrook!

      3. Go for it. Children don’t believe evrrything they read, and they can ask questins, which helps them learn how to think crticslly.
Banning books teaches them nothing but how to follownrules without wuestion. If that’ts the world you want, go live in Russia. And you can add The Bible to your list of banned books, it promotes all kinds of violence.
Meanwhile, sorry, but my skin is not lily white. I come from mixed racial stock. Snowflake is not one of them.

    1. He was living in upstate NY. He saw traffic and long lines of people. He followed. He heard there was a concert. He went. He looked around, didn’t like the drugs… and left.
If I had known this before we were married it might have been a deal breaker.

  3. Local libraries are not the target with book “banning”, no matter what CNNLOL and MSNBD- try to pass off as news. School libraries are. I AM on board with that. If Mom and Dad are comfortable with little 2nd grade Billy reading the listed books, then they can drag him to the local library, where the book will be on the shelf. As for me, I would not want to empty his book bag and find that the SCHOOL library allowed him to check out “Tommy learns to But Fuck Jimmy: A Gay Journey”.
