.
A few days ago I posted pictures of a starling riding around on momma chuck.
They were so cute I posted them on a Maine wildlife Facebook page as well .
.

.
Lots of people liked them and left nice comments.
But then Facebook’s AI had to jump in, with its strikingly accurate portrayal of what it was seeing.
.

.
Duck.
Chuck.
It was close… and hey, at least they rhyme.
🤣
.
Autocorrect also has a thing about replacing a similar word with “duck.”

Which makes for interesting, if slightly disturbing, reading…

Well, mostly it just makes me ducking mad?

Understandable. Duck you just doesn’t have the same oomph.

AI had no idea what a momma chuck is. There is no such animal in the world. So, of course it defaulted to the nearest word looking like a chuck, which is a duck.
Score “embarrassing” for AI. It has no way to turn a woodchuck into a duck!

But it was getting its information from the comments where people were saying woodchuck. And I didn’t refer to her as momma chuck in the post, I only do that here.

Ahhhhh. I figured you just transferred the post onto FB as other people are known to do. But no matter, AI should still be embarrassed, or at least Zuckerburg should be!

Considering my Bird Buddy thought a deer was a grey catbird, I’m not the least bit surprised.
