It isn’t often the entire woodchuck clan shows up for a nosh at the same time.

.
But I managed to snap a few quick shots of momma and siblings vying for carrots the other day.
.

.
A bit of squabbling took place among the kids.
.

.
But no one got in mommas way.

I love watching the skunks siblings because they body-check each other like crazy.
I think I’d enjoy having a family of woodchucks!

The main issue with chucks is their digging. They execute burrows and bolt holes everywhere which can undermine foundations. We’ve been lucky so far but you have to keep an eye out.

Don’t you wish human kids squabbled over who gets the carrots? I think now they squabble about who gets the candy, chips, and gaming device.

Actually, my kids loved carrots, but only from a particular farmer friend. When his ran out for the season, they noticed. I had to explain about growing seasons and the limits of cold storage. We went through tons of carrots from about September to April.

I have a friend whose little girl goes crazy over “trees”. Which to the rest of us is broccoli.

My brother and I called them trees as kids, too! And Brussels sprouts were bushes.

I’m guessing not bothering mom is a rule they learn early. So cute.

Momma doesn’t suffer fools lightly. By the time she leads them to the buffet? She’s pretty much done with them maternally.

Where’s the father in all this? What a deadbeat, leaving Momma alone to raise three kids!
Sheesh.

We only see him during mating season. He’s a deadbeat dad.

They almost remind me of an AI family. Either that or you have a hell of a lens…I am surprised at their stillness.
