Challenge accepted.

.

Another year, another 192 books.

.

.

That’s either impressive, or a sure fire way to show I have too much time on my hands.

.

.

I’ve always been a quick reader and there’s nothing I love more than snuggling up with a good book. Ironically, I hated the book that was highly recommended ….

.

.

And liked the two hardly anyone had ever heard of.

.

.

I was down a book from last year and am blaming my 36 hour Covid related time out.

.

.

I read a little bit of everything.

.

.

But my favorites are usually mysteries and thrillers.

.

.

Here’s to a book filled 2025!

😊

.

Clearly they don’t know me very well…

.

I received an email from Goodreads yesterday…. the app where I log and keep track of what I’m reading.

I participate in their annual challenge where you set a goal for yourself in January and hopefully reach it by December 31rst. I’ve been doing it for two years and have overshot my target number with room to spare both times.

So why did they send me this…

.

.

When my challenge is already showing this…

.

.

Short books?

As you can see, that’s not necessary.

😉

.

Short is not my jam.

.

I’m thoroughly enjoying my Goodreads app. It’s a great way to catalog and keep track of what I’ve read and what I want to read in the future.

.

.

No more buying books only to realize it’s familiar after finishing the first chapter. A definite win in my book.

Oh look, I made a funny. 😉

Living with algorithms that constantly bombard me with pickles and ridiculous cat products, I was a little surprised to learn my Goodreads app doesn’t seem to know me that well.

.

.

Need help finishing it?

Uh, no. I completed and surpassed my goal quite a while back.

.

.

Okay, I drastically underestimated the amount I read in a year. Sue me, I’ve never counted before. Next year I shall be more on point.

But short reads? Please. Don’t recommend those skinny little overnight books.

I’m just getting interested 200 pages in.

.

I’m more voracious than I thought.

.

Before joining Goodreads I never gave much thought to how much I read. I knew it was a lot, books are stuffed in every nook and cranny of our house and my Amazon deliveries are epic. But I don’t keep all the books I’ve finished… I couldn’t, they would literally bury me… so I never did a yearly count until now.

Goodreads has a annual challenge where you set a goal and check off as you go.

My prediction of the number of books I’d read this year was slightly off.

.

.

I thought 75 seemed like a good number… but clearly it was a little low.

.

.

It’s early May and it looks like I’m 50 books ahead of schedule.

Oops.

.

I won?

.

Let me preface this post by saying I never win anything.

Ever. In my entire life.

Nada. Zip. Zilch. Nothing.

No stuffed animals at the county fair, no raffle ticket prizes, no free sandwiches at Subway (which is something to be thankful for when you think about it) Really… I don’t win anything. Ever. I may lead a charmed life but when it comes to contests, forget about it. I’m the black hole of doom when it comes to luck.

So when I downloaded the Goodreads app a while back and started getting emails about book giveaways, I thought sure…. I’ll enter but I won’t win. I never do.

Until I did.

.

.

In the scheme of things it’s no big deal. Publishers give away free copies of new books to get feedback all the time.

But. I. Won. Something!

And my free book came in the mail yesterday.

.

.

Me!

It would not surprise me to know the Devil is currently installing central air and handing out Popsicles.

.

Because I really need another time sucking app.

.

Are you familiar with Goodreads?

I wasn’t, but now I’m addicted.

Goodreads is the world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations. Our mission is to help people find and share books they love.

Find and read more books you’ll love, and keep track of the books you want to read. Be part of the world’s largest community of book lovers on Goodreads.

Being a voracious reader, I had to join. Once you sign up and choose your favorite categories, there are daily recommendations based on your preferences and reading history.

.

.

There’s also a place to keep track of what you’re currently reading, what you want to read and what you’ve already read.

.

.

And a yearly reading challenge where you plug in how many books you want to read that year.

.

.

As you can see, I’m eleven books ahead of schedule.

If you love to read? Check it out… it’s free so you’ve got nothing to lose. Except time.

😉
