By request…

.

A fellow blogger saw a weird news item online and naturally thought of me. I’m not sure that’s a compliment, but if the shoe fits?

Write a post about it.

.

.

No, this isn’t a joke.

It happened.

.

.

Clearly this monkey used to listen to Stephen Stills.

.

.

Admittedly, the deer looks less than thrilled.

.

.

Damn, I hope not.

.

.

.

There’s riding…

And then there’s riding.

.

.

You’re welcome.

.

Miscellaneous drivel.

.

Cupboards are boring.

.

.

I would.

I really would…

.

.

Beer plus Girl Scout cookies?

I’m in.

.

.

And speaking of beer, we dropped into a new small batch brewery to try a flight recently.

.

.

The beer was quite good. Traditional German style Pilsners, dunkels and gose. Veteran owned and run, so you know my husband found someone to talk to… which made us late for our dinner reservation.

.

.

Our first chuck of the season lost a little fur during hibernation.

.

.

In an odd circular patch.

I was a bit worried…

.

.

But it seems to be growing back nicely.

.

.

I saw this on FB the other day and had to chuckle.

.

.

Then I saw this answer and positively snorted.

JD gets makeup tips from raccoons.

.

.

Yes, my pickle algorithm is alive and well.

Sigh.

.

Deer me.

.

Our herd was back again for their nightly snack.

.

.

This time with the funky antlered buck.

.

.

His horns were oddly shaped all year… and now that’s he losing them, they’re even odder.

.

.

He’s the leader of the group and doesn’t like it when the kids beat him to the food bowl.

.

.

A well placed kick scatters the youngsters.

.

.

And he has the bowl to himself.

.

.

For a little while anyway.

.

.

😊

.

First of the season.

.

Look who’s back!

.

.

I spotted our first woodchuck yesterday.

.

.

And immediately tossed out some lettuce and broccoli to welcome the little guy back.

.

.

I’m saying little guy but it might be a girl. I only know it doesn’t look like our old momma chuck of years past.

.

.

She’s been around for a long time and sadly, I think it’s time for the next generation to take over.

.

Maine’s idea of a good time.

.

Maine winters can be long, and out here in the country you take your entertainment where you can find it.

.

.

Often times, that’s on a frozen river.

.

.

Smelt, a small oily fish people enjoy fried…

.

.

… run thus time of year and intrepid Mainers set up ice fishing shacks.

.

.

Sitting in a plywood box in sub zero temps staring at a hole in the ice isn’t my idea of a good time.

.

.

But to each their own.

🐟

.

February was a good month for snow.

.

Are you tired of winter snow photos? If so, you have my permission to depart the pattern now…. because that’s all there is today.

.

.

No adult beverages on the deck last week I’m afraid.

.

.

The above is a rare deer track free shot of the backyard. Taken early in the morning, it didn’t last.

.

.

The wind has been killer this season. The above is a shot of my husband shoveling the driveway when it was 6 degrees with 53 mph gusts.

Yours truly stayed inside.

.

.

Driveway clearing after a storm is the Maine equivalent of the office water cooler. Everyone crawls out of their snowbound homes and chats.

.

.

And if you’re lucky, your neighbor cracks through the ice crusted snow your snowblower won’t with his tractor plow.

😊

.

This and that.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten has developed a disturbing fondness for Al Roker…

.

.

Should I be worried?

.

.

Has the revolution begun? And why did no one tell me…

.

.

I love Cards Against Humanity and Beth Dutton.

I may have to own this.

.

.

Not my photograph, but it was posted by someone in Maine.

If that squirrel isn’t silently saying ‘hold my beer’ ? I’ll eat my hat.

.

.

Bacon is life.
