While I adore the Drinking With Chickens blog and Facebook page…
.
.
And was thrilled that the author published a cocktail recipe book…
.
.
Loaded with fabulous birds…
.
.
And beautifully crafted drinks…
.
.
I have to admit her concoctions are a little out of my bartending comfort zone.
.
.
And as much as I’d love to dazzle our friends ( if we ever see them again post plague) with these truly gorgeous creations..
.
.
I fear the barn bar, which will be fully stocked with assorted liquors and accompaniments, will more than likely be devoid of fresh persimmons and kumquat thyme syrup.
.
.
Calendula blossoms and cardamom pods? That might be a bridge too far, even for me.
.
Those drinks are literal works of art!

They are. And far beyond my meager mixology skills….

Remember “Organic” Calendula blossoms.
As long as you have cold beer in bar bottles, I’m an easy customer.

And, I’ll pick it out and miss the napkin when I set it on the bar.

But it looked great for those 11 seconds… right?

Man, no matter how much liquor and liqueurs I collect I inevitably fail to have something on hand the recipe requires. I’ve usually opted to make my own concoctions instead.

I hear that. I’m always trying to recreate some great cocktail I had when we went out to dinner. It rarely works.

A woman has to know her limits. I like looking at fancy cocktail recipes, and aside from a perfect martini, I prefer a shot of liquor neat. Maybe on the rocks if I’m feeling fancy. 🥃

Hope springs eternal. And now that we have a full fledged bar, my mixing talent might improve.

… how the photographer keep the chickens from pooping on everything?

There are some questions that are better not asked…

People like me who were raised around chickens, and even went barefoot around chickens, would have to ask that question …

And being a chicken lover, I not only understand…. but concur.

I’m not one to be drinking with Chickens, unless you count a couple of friends who have to be home by a certain time. But, I’d rather drink with Cats, they are distinguished drinkers and still maintain their aloofness and sarcasm, lol. That one cocktail with the sliced jalapenos looked delish!

I think a fancy cocktail with calendula blossoms and cardamom would knock the pants off your guests. You’ve got probably another year to source the goods.

That’s true. And practice makes perfect!

Card a mom is something you do to a young-looking woman who sidles up to the bar with a baby in one arm.

Ha! Our bar is a baby free zone.

Yeah, nah. Delicious but would take longer to make than drink.

If I had the ingredients I’d probably do it for my first drink. After that, no.
