.
Yesterday? A 20 hour snow storm .
Today? We dig out.
.

.
The first path is to rehang the bird feeders so our fine feathered friends can have a nosh.
.

.
Then a bit of shoveling in front of the garage so the husband can access the snow blower.
.

.
A quick 11 inch measurement…
.

.
And then it’s time to blow.
.

.
Two neighbors offered to plow our driveway but the husband is persnickety when it comes to clearing and prefers to do it himself.
.

.
If you’ve ever lived in northern climates you know the end of the driveway after the plow goes by is always the worst.
.

.
This was a pretty snowfall. Light enough to move easily but damp enough to coat the trees.
I love winter!
.

.
But there are perils to the arithmetic when you have three vehicles and a two bay garage.
There’s a car under there…. somewhere.
.
I totally understand being persnickety about the driveway. I do that.

He snow blows when it’s over 6-8 inches… then takes a shovel and scrapes the whole thing close to the tar. We get a lot of sun so it helps melt faster that way.

We get very little sun. About 40% of our driveway gets no sun. So I do the same. Snow blow then go over it with a shovel.

Well, never having to actually own a snowblower, I’m not persnickety about that stuff, lol. I’m glad about that fact though, but I love the pictures you show us of your winter wonderland.

Winter isn’t winter without snow!

So, you don’t have to shovel but get to take the pics. I can hear my brothers when we were growing up-of course she likes it, she is not out there shoveling…not true, mostly. Enjoy the weather.

No, I do some of the shoveling. But my husband likes to do the driveway a certain way so I leave that to him.

There are a few things in the garden and house I leave to my husband. I feel like we are part of your family!

You’re more than welcome to come here and weed anytime you want.

Only if we get to tour a nice restaurant with grand martinis and the husband can spend time playing pool with your hubby while we have our meal and martinis.

I could see that…

And I love owning a snowblower! It makes it easier to love winter.

My husband’s is big and heavy. Too hard for me to even move.

I assume the third car is Lord Dudley’s. Now, if he only had a driver’s license and some warm weather, he’d be able to drive to the Catskills and enjoy the life of the fat cats.

It’s pretty to look at, but I don’t envy you the shoveling and snow throwing and end of the driveway mess.

It’s good exercise… and lord knows I don’t get much of that in the winter.

No fun in back breaking shoveling out of a spot in a poorly snow removed apartment complex. Last big snow storm here i was shoveling my car out and with snow in shovel slipped and fell on snow covered ice. Making for a very scary experience.

I hear you. Even worse when someone takes your newly cleared spot.

The problem with living in a snow zone is not the shovelling, but getting a diagnosis from the doctor who forbids you to shovel snow anymore. And since Gail has a bum kbee and cannot stand with a shovel in her hands, we spent most of this winter driving on top of the snow, packing it down into ice. Then the Snow Angel program restarted, and now the car no longet sits a foot above the pavement. I actually had to carve a step into the ice to allow Gail to climb up to get to the car.

We’ll be in the same boat someday. I’ve got a bad knee and my husband certainly isn’t getting younger … so I’m enjoying it while I can.

Glad you made it through, okay. I thought that maybe you would end up eating that cat of yours.

We’re not there yet. Though he’s porky enough for a nice roast…

It’s beautiful! As much as I enjoy using the snow blower, I’d never turn down a free plow service.

He’s only accepted once since we’ve been here… and that was almost 2 feet of wet heavy mess.

There’s pride and there’s stubbornness. Seems like he’s straddling the line.

Our snow blower remains stoic in the garage…wondering what it did so terribly wrong to not get any run this year. At least we started it in November. It can live off of that high until next November.

We’ve used ours twice, which in Maine means not at all.
