Look who’s back.

.

We didn’t have much snow this winter so our spring isn’t as wet as it usually is. No snow means no melt which means no big backyard puddles for our annual visiting pair of ducks to splash.

But here they are.

No water meant they didn’t stay long, but it was nice to see them again.

  1. Maybe it is a good thing the ducks are not sticking around. Geese and ducks are returning to the north, but some are bringing bird flu with them. Dead bodies are being found in too many places. The long travel to get here while fighting bird flu means they are too weak to survive. And our crows and ravens are feeding on them. I hope they are immune, or we could have a pandemic on our hands. What would this world be like without birds?

  2. A local park has a sign up about good things to feed to ducks. Bread is not recommended but frozen peas are. I would have loved to have thrown them a few handfuls of peas before they went on their way.
