And he thought furniture shopping was bad…

.

Since my husband balked at the price tag of the carpet I chose and thought it would be easy to find a comparable replacement, we shopped.

.

.

And shopped, and shopped.

And then shopped some more.

.

.

The man had no idea how many different beige carpets existed… and I was determined to show him each and every one.

Textured, tonal, sculptured, Berber.

Wool, nylon, polyester, olefin.

.

.

There was even a line devoted to pet accidents.

But not a single one held a candle to my original choice.

The search continues…

.

Goodwill finds I’m glad I didn’t find.

.

I have a friend who’s addicted to thrifting and every time we get together she has to hit Goodwill. Over the years I’ve found some nice things there.

The following are not those things.

.

.

I don’t know what that houseplant did to piss off this octopus, but it must have been major.

.

.

That’s extremely disturbing.

.

.

Even this cat was surprised.

.

.

Oh, no.

Hell no!

.

.

Somewhere, someone thought this was a good idea.

The mind boggles.

.

Can you see him?

.

No, it hasn’t snowed again… but I realized I forgot to post these photos after our last storm so bear with me.

Can you see him?

.

.

How about now?

.

.

That’s our resident Coopers Hawk sitting in the apple tree waiting for lunch to fly by.

.

.

The speed at which he snatched a dove out of the air astounded me … as I had my phone camera pointed right at him when it happened and still didn’t manage to catch the shot.

.

.

Here’s a blurry pic of him sitting on top of his lunch for a split second before he flew away to eat in peace.

.

April showers result…

.

We’ve had nothing but rain and gloomy skies for weeks… so when the sun finally put in an appearance?

.

.

We were rewarded.

.

.

This was a strange rainbow as it was quite low on the horizon…

.

.

But it certainly didn’t dim the beauty.

And since I was standing at the open back door to take pictures, I asked the husband to keep watch over His Lordship so he didn’t slip past me to freedom.

.

.

You can guess how that went.

.

.

Though it did provide me with a nice photo of my two favorite men under a rainbow.

❤️

.

Miscellaneous nonsense.

.

I don’t know why, but it seems my pickle algorithms have been reactivated.

.

.

Ugh.

Keep your briny spears out of my bread!

.

.

Someone bought this at Goodwill and while I thought it must have been a joke, turns out it wasn’t. The horror really exists.

“Yes, Vlasic and the candle brand Candier have partnered on a 100-percent wax candle that looks like a real jar of Vlasic Original Dill Wholes and smells, well, like a real jar of Vlasic Original Dill Wholes. “It was a no-brainer for us,”

🤢

.

.

Because some of you are going to be covered in crunchy protein very soon.

Bon appetit!

.

.

I have a jade plant that is now covered in white spots. They’re not bugs or moldy powder that can be wiped off, but are imbedded in the leaves themselves. Anyone have a clue what’s going on?

.

.

It seems my husband chose well when purchasing our new toaster.

🤣

.

Next project is on deck…

.

While we’re (none too patiently) waiting for the new living room furniture to be delivered, it’s time to turn our attention back to the bedroom.

.

.

The newly trimmed windows and sills are in…

.

.

The new door has been installed…

.

.

With its pretty morning reflection.

So now we need to get rid of that horrible dusty rose carpet the previous owners chose and replace it with a nice neutral beige.

I did a little preliminary shopping and fell in love with a Karastan.

.

.

Of course I did, it was the highest quality and most expensive available. Unfortunately the husband did not fall in love with the price and wanted me to choose something less pricey.

So began our carpet shopping saga.

You know the drill…store to store to store trying to find something comparable. He thought it would be easy.

He was wrong.

.

.

He brought this one home, but it was too grey.

.

.

He brought this one home, but it leaves those awful striped vacuum marks.

.

.

He brought this one home and asked Lord Dudley to choose, but nothing matched the quality, softness or color of my Karastan.

.

.

The search continues…

.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

.

Yes, I’m beating the AI drum again. Be careful what you wish for people, when computers have a mind of their own all bets are off.

And as it turns out, so are your clothes.

.

.

Naked deep fakes are alive and well, just ask Taylor Swift, but this prototype could put the technology in everyone’s hands.

.

.

What’s real? What’s not? And how will we ever be able to tell…

.

.

Welcome to the future.

🥴

.

I think I hear it screaming for a rug.

.

Now that I’ve filled the new hutch and dressed the new table, some proper pictures.

The before…

.

.

The after…

.

.

If you’re a wood lover like us, you’d love this table.

.

.

The grain swirls are marvelous.

.

.

.

I have to admit the custom made Amish hutch turned out a lot darker than I hoped.

.

.

And since the new floor is also darker than I thought it would be…

.

.

I believe a bright new rug is in our future.

Did you notice my prominent placement of the family silver?

.

.

This is going to be an utter nightmare to dust and keep polished, so place your bets on how long I can ( or want ) to keep this look.

The before…

.

.

The after…

.

.

Ceiling, beam, floor, baseboard moulding, back door and dining room furniture replaced… and to think it only took 7 months.

🥴

We’re waiting on the living room furniture delivery now. They promised 6-7 weeks but you know how that goes…

.
