The flotsam I need to share.

.

I don’t know if this first one is true, but I really hope so. The cuteness factor is off the charts.

.

.

And because I’m nerdy enough to get a giant kick out of this –

.

.

Murphy’s cat? Uncannily accurate.

As my loyal readers know, adjusting to retirement has not been easy for my husband. Feeling useless and unproductive with endless hours to fill has been driving him a bit batty. I’ve given him numerous suggestions, none of which have been to his liking.

And then I saw this…

.

.

Now that’s a retirement career he’s well suited for!

Without starting a political argument, I’m just going to drop the following photo here. Taken at the FBI, it shows a worker following orders to paint.

.

.

The fact that he’s been ordered to paint over awful words like fairness, respect and integrity speaks volumes.

😥

.

.

Reading this article makes me realize that American shellfish are complete slackers. Let’s put those suckers to work!

.

.

I’m ending this post with Lord Dudley Mountcatten, staring me down for no good reason. Just because he can.

.

Danger Will Robinson!

.

Apologies to those too young to understand the title reference.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten loves looking out the window and keeps a close eye on birds and visiting critters. But when an enemy dares step foot in his backyard?

.

.

He lets the whole house know about it with snarls, growls and hisses.

.

.

Said enemy is Silas, the neighbor kitty who likes to stalk mice in our field and occasionally takes a stroll under the bird feeders.

.

.

His Lordship is not amused.

😉

.

Lazy cats and lovable octopi.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten does not exert himself unnecessarily.

.

.

Or at all, honestly.

.

.

Cat life is good.

.

.

The moon has been amazing lately, but I never manage to take decent photographs of it.

.

.

Doesn’t stop me from trying though.

.

.

Shout out to Grace at Just Tawkin’ for recommending this beautifully written, heartwarming, and simply wonderful book.

You’ll never think of an octopus the same way.

❤️

.

Life with His Lordship.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten loves his blanket during the winter months.

.

.

And woe to the human who thinks about removing it from the couch.

.

.

His Lordship has my husband well trained.

.

.

He knocks his favorite mouse off the ottoman…

.

.

And my husband catches it.

.

.

Again.

And again.

And again….

.

.

His Lordship is an odd fellow and has been known to sit and stare at nothing at all.

.

.

Yesterday morning it was the sun.

.

.

Lord Dudley loves his mouse.

.

.

And often goes full on penguin, tucking it under his belly.

Is he trying to hatch it?

Time will tell.

.

Now what?

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten caught a mouse yesterday.

.

.

Pulled it out from under the day lily undergrowth just as proud as could be.

.

.

Not that he knew what to do with it.

We have a lot of mice here in the country, and yes… they’re sweet, but they also try to find a way in our nice warm house in the winter and that I can do without.

His Lordship’s mother would prefer he catch and quickly dispatch the rodents to Mickey Mouse heaven but Lord Dudley is a pacifist and prefers to make friends instead.

.

.

He and his new buddy hung out like this for a while … and then went their separate ways.

Sigh.

.

Random rambling..

.

I saw something online the other day and need to ask my Arizona readers if it exists…

.

.

What say you southwestern friends….

Is the #1 place for #2 for real?

.

.

This begs the question .. why?

.

.

His Lordship.

I’d like to say he’s leaf peeping but he was actually bird stalking.

.

.

Remember the old Hugh Grant movie Four Weddings and a Funeral? These words were spoken in the eulogy and always choke me up.

❤️

.

Miscellaneous missives.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten was cackling loudly the other day and stalking something through the living room window.

.

.

Closer inspection revealed a line of sparrows…

.

.

Who were no doubt teasing him on purpose.

.

.

I’m going out on a limb here, but this abomination is almost as awful as Spam.

.

.

I tried very hard to talk my husband into throwing this into the truck on a recent trip to Tractor Supply, but at $230 he squawked.

Which is something this chicken clearly isn’t doing anymore.

.

.

His Lordship, surveying his domain.

.

Random around the house nonsense.

.

It’s nearing the end of the growing season but my geraniums are in peak form. Go figure…

.

.

Construction on the shed extension is progressing slowly.

.

.

And look, it be fancy.

Windows.

🤣

.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten finally decided the new porch wasn’t dangerous and explored.

.

.

The stone was particularly interesting and warranted much sniffing.

.

.

As did the new door’s glass panels.

.

.

Please note Polly the Polyphemus moth is still cocooned … weeks past her/his hatching date. I fear we’ll have to keep it safe until next spring now.

🥴

.

.

Poles and more poles are going up across the road.

.

.

I can’t tell you how much I’m dreading seeing those giant greenhouses. Losing our nice view is depressing.

.

.

Entire pitcher of sangria worths depressing.

😉
