Random rambling.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten, caught mid -stalk.

.

.

It’s been an unusually wet summer and while this time of year usually finds our lawn dry and crunchy, the grass is verdant green.

.

.

Which shows off the rainbows to perfection.

.

.

I don’t care if it tastes good, the can alone would make me try it.

.

.

Work has resumed on the view busting greenhouses across the street.

.

.

Can’t say I’m in a hurry for that to be erected.

.

.

I could never make decent shadow figures when I was young, but I found this recently and wanted to share. The spider looks like a scorpion and the puppy resembles a hippo but they’re still better than I ever managed.

.

.

Mr. Hawk is back and has discovered a power line perch.

.

.

Whether that’s a very brave or very stupid dove has yet to be determined.

.

.

Another rainbow.

😊

.

No searching required.

*Note to reader: For optimum pleasure this blog should be read with Marshall Tucker’s ‘Searching for a Rainbow’ playing in the background. *

Rain? Oh, we’ve had rain.

Almost every day for a month and a half.

.

.

And aside from making our lawn green, lush and almost impossible to keep mowed… there are rainbows.

.

.

Which really isn’t a bad trade off .

❤️

.

Random nonsense

.

Why is it every time I clean the windows?

.

.

A drive by birding. It’s like they wait for the Windex…

.

.

Yes. That is actually the McDonalds in Freeport, Maine.

.

.

Another reason I love my state.

.

.

Do not try to remove His Lordship’s catnip. There will be consequences… and most likely, blood.

.

.

Rain. The husband’s car. And a woodchuck staying dry.

Enough said.

.

.

Rain means rainbows.

.

.

And we’ve certainly had our share lately.

Another weekend, another wall.

Work on the baby barn project graduated from glacially slow to slow as molasses last weekend…. and we managed to frame a wall in 3 days.

Though to be fair, ripping off that old rotted pressboard is like Chinese water torture.

IMG_6322

It literally shreds in your hands.

But slowly… we saw daylight.

IMG_6330

And by Saturday afternoon we had open space and a center post that was barely hanging on.

And by barely?

IMG_6336

I mean barely.

The husband did the usual dirt shuffle in his ongoing attempt to level the building. A pipe dream at best as it was built in the mid 70’s… and it’s Maine.

Frost heave central.

Measuring is fun.

IMG_6345

Ripping out posts that were nailed in with spikes?

Not so much.

IMG_E6393

Pardon the sun glare and bad manicure… but damn.

Talk about overkill.

IMG_6346

Framing started Sunday, with a new window taking center stage.

IMG_6361

And continued when the husband decided to dig out all the dirt underneath the structure…

IMG_6362

And lay paving stones in yet another attempt to level it.

Then came the rain… and a mad dash to put everything away before it got soaked.

And then?

Then… the baby barn got a rainbow.

IMG_6368

And I found my honey at the other end.

Can I get an awwww?
