.
Three grey squirrels were braving the elements for a nosh during our last snow storm.
.

.
This fellow was first to the tray feeder, scrambling up the pole and settling in to munch.
.

.
Squirrel number two had a harder time with the slippery pole….
.

.
But after a few comical attempts… made it to the tray of treats.
.

.
Squirrel #1 was not happy to share and a major scuffle broke out, but it was over quickly and a truce was called.
.

.
All was well until squirrel #3 showed up.
.

.
He climbed the pole 4 times and was booted off in no uncertain terms.
.

.
Two is company… and apparently three is one squirrel too many.
.
That would be fun to watch.

They’re quite comical.

They probably spill enough that the third guy can pick them up.

For squirrels, it’s no doubt “survival of the fattest” to make it through Maine winters (unlike many humans, for whom eating like wanting to become the fattest seems to know no season).

I feel like you need a feeding contraption like the one Maude uses in Harold&Maude

Awww.
She has a container mounted on an arm which is hooked & spring-loaded at her window. She fills the cup, releases the spring, and it throws bird seed across the yard… doesn’t have to leave her home.

I love that movie. Strother Martin is so funny trying to get his mind around the nature of their relationship, and the Cat Stevens soundtrack, excellent.

Interesting. That would be nice at 20 below.

I’m sure those who can make it up to the snack plate appreciate it very much. Those babies look cold.
