News from rural Maine…
The Abominable Snowman requires assistance.
.

.
And I don’t know if this is a thing elsewhere, but Mainers save their egg cartons. Even if we don’t have chickens.
.

.
Why do we do this?
Because winters are long, and we can.
.

.
You know it’s officially cold when the ice shacks start appearing on the river.
.

.
Wildlife sightings continue…
.

.
It’s a good thing she got a picture. I wouldn’t have believed her otherwise.
.
I hope you’re staying safe…

Precarious on snow, but maybe….

Cut semicircles in the sides to lower the head, then pad the shoulders, nothing fancy, to beef him up and hide the cuts. simpler than it sounds. Now, ask yourself: Are you really surprised to read this? Oh, and white fake fur on snow boots looks like big clumsy bumble feet.

Yesterday we had to endure over two hours of anti-vaxxer truck drivers and their wannabees driving around our town beeping horns and however else they could make noises. They didn’t even calm down going past the hospital which is 87% full of new Covid patients and 75% full of long-Covid patients. They had no respect for anyone, and the RCMP were nowhere in sight.
I hate living in REDNECKVILLE, except that I love my home and the beautiful yard the house sits in.

We’re hanging on tight. My town is great, the crowd is still pretty enlightened, but the surrounding communities are a bit more red. Gar blessum all but I do wish they would go get a flippin’ shot already. Then they might figure something out when their friends and family members stop dying, not to mention themselves. Then we can go back to being friends.

My small town is decidedly blue. We have farmers, but they’re the alternative lifestyle, Birkenstock crowd.

Must be nice. In more ways than one.

We have our share of people with different views, but they seem to be the minority.

When I was younger, we used to use Egg Cartons for a lot of creative projects. Of course, most children have lost Imagination since then, though.

I just saw an egg carton igloo listed the other day. Maybe I should build one for the husband…

Could be cool. Spray it with the hose kinda slow to get the smooth icy shell, then it’s a thing of beauty until the horrifying mess emerges in the spring.

I play miniature wargames and, depending on the game, there could be hundreds of figures involved. Egg cartons are great for transporting them. they’re the right size to keep them from rattling around so the paint doesn’t get scuffed off,

Great recycling, that.

I have a bit of a hard time thinking up anything that has only one use, outside of specialized tooling, certain small arms and a thing or two unsuitable for discussion in polite company.

My mother was like that. She died with 450 pieces of string and at least 2,000 rubber bands.

I save them as there is always someone who needs for the chickens they raise. My DIL and my neighbor BOTH use…..
