.
The husband and I were on our way home from the grocery store the other day when he spotted an antique store he’d never been in. I wondered how that was even possible, but hey… it happens.
.

.
When we walked in, I turned right and he turned left. It wasn’t long before I heard him haggling with the owner so I hightailed it over before things got serious.
Old cash registers. Fancy ones I grant you….
.

.
But with a price tag of $2,500? I gave the husband the evil eye.
.

.
And with a $4,500 price tag on this one?
.

.
I was positively pulling him out of the store.
It was fabulous. But not that fabulous.
😳
.
Sorry you spotted the store now?? lol

If I had the money, I would have been sorely tempted. That last one is gorgeous!

It is. But a wee bit pricey too..

They were. But not $4,500 beautiful…

I would get a little suspicious if he disappears for an hour or so–you might walk into the man cave and see he is charging his friends for drinks and the ‘new’ register is full!!!

Can’t say I’m averse to that idea.

You need to take him to an Antiques Anonymous group meeting….fast!

No! They’d probably all just buy and sell to each other.

Well I never thought about it that way…..😝

On that last one….$6.86…did they sell a gallon of gas?

Back then, that probably would have bought you the whole pumps worth.

Classic cash registered worth thousands of dollars, and yet both are surrounded by a lot of messy junk. Does not compute…

It was a horribly junky store. But that’s usually how it goes, every place has one or two treasures.

I agree, they are beautiful. Look at all the detailing and you know it took someone a long time to create/build those.

Like everything else that was built in the old days…. beautiful, functional and made to last. Both of these still worked perfectly.

To show hubby how much you love him, you could return to that store alone and buy one of those registers to surprise him for his birthday.
I’m sure he would do the same for you….and even put it in the man cave for you to enjoy! 😀

I could. But we both know I won’t….

We visited the National Cash Register Museum in Dayton, Ohio last spring. Walls full of old typewriters like that. They’re quite fascinating actually.

They are. And if that pretty one was $4000 less we might have owned it.

I’m thinking if he got the cheaper one and started charging friends for drinks in the barn (using the cash register of course – so fun your friends would be happy to pay) he could make back that money in no time!
