.
Yes, it’s true. We took another mini trip and I’m about to flood you with more travel photos.
.

.
This time we just jumped across the border and headed to the White Mountains of north western New Hampshire.
.

.
It’s one of my favorite areas… filled with scenic beauty and wondrous natural places to explore.
.

.
These photos are from the famous Kancamagus highway. A 30 odd mile stretch of road cut right through the mountains.
.

.
In peak foliage season it’s divine and while we were two weeks late for that, there was still some residual color.
.

.
Until you reached the top.
But back down the other side it brightened up again.
.

.
The resort we chose this time around was literally right off this road at the end of the National Forest.
.

.
And for us, you can’t get much better than that.
Since check in wasn’t until 4:00pm, we headed to Woodstock.
.

.
A quaint New England village…
.

.
With a big brewery/restaurant/inn.
.

.
You knew that was coming, right? The autumn beer on the far right was my pick. A rich, creamy amber with notes of pumpkin and nutmeg. Perfect!
.

.
And right above my head, teasing me with every glance? A vintage ale crate, damn it. The husband was determined to purchase it for me but the manager didn’t care how much beer we drank, the answer was always no.
.

.
And though our lunches didn’t appear appetizing?
.

.
They were both delicious. Baked haddock, garlic smashed red potatoes and squash for me. Charbroiled mushroom Swiss burger for the hubs.
.

.
A good start to the vacation… except for this uber creepy spare parts facsimile of a doll hovering alongside the bar.
That is the stuff of nightmares.
😳
.
Gorgeous! (The scenery, not that can/doll.)

I dislike dolls in general, but that one gave me the heebie jeebies.

Gorgeous! (The scenery, not the plating of your lunches).
Checked the map ~ this road trip is pretty close to Jackson NH and the Thompson House Eatery. If only I’d mentioned it sooner. Next time, eh?

I know… it was right next door!

Does everywhere you go have a brewery or do towns build breweries in an attempt to get you to visit?

That’s a good question. We do like our beer, so I’m not sure. It would be nice to think the latter, but microbreweries are literally everywhere in our area now. It’s a booming new industry we’re doing our best to support.

Keep the flood of travel photos coming! I’m glad you explained what was on your plate…I had no idea what the foremost glob of stuff was, and I’m glad it tasted delicious.

It looked awful but was quite tasty.

Mushroom-Swiss burger…yum-o. The crate reminded of a place we used to go to that always tried to seat us directly under a giant tv with very little support. I always turned down the table because I was afraid one of us would be squashed when it inevitably fell. That would surely ruin the meal. That last picture must be Satanic in nature.

If management wants to rush you in and out quickly, placement of multiple demonic dolls is key.

Another vacay! You do get around and see the prettiest sights. Not sure about that last photo though, that thing is creepy.

We’re making up for two years of lost Covid traveling time. Just driving for now, the airlines are still such a nightmare. Every friend I know who has flown lately has a horror story… so we’ll just road trip it.

When we get back to traveling it’s going to be by car, too. Friends tell me I’d hate flying right now. They know me well.

Oh very nice! This place looks just perfect for a Texas girl who only sees bare mountains and desert. I’d love to see those fall colors in person. Of course you had to sample some beer, it wouldn’t be a vacation without it. Sorry that you could fenagle that ale crate though, it would have been perfect.

We take day trips over this way a lot but never have the time to fully explore so we figured, why not?

That poor doll! At least it has a home and won’t end up on ‘The Island Of Misfit Toys ‘.

It belongs at the bottom of pit!

Beautiful scenery and I can’t help but notice the extra blue skies!
That crate indeed was taunting you.

Just curious–you mention ‘it’ a lot but us southern Floridians have no idea what you are talking about—what is a “Mountain”?

Big hill, lots of trees, some bears.

I guess it’s kind of refreshing that the pub is confident enough in its food it doesn’t feel the need to focus on presentation?

I was doubtful when it came out, but optics aside, it was delicious.
