Random blather.

.

The following is a sunset over our neighbor’s gigantic greenhouses.

.

.

We’re getting used to them, but that doesn’t mean we’re happy about it.

.

.

Preach.

.

.

May is a beautiful time of year. The grass is green and the birds are orange.

.

.

Baltimore Orioles fly in for about a month on their migration north so I make sure they have ample oranges and grape jelly.

.

.

These are for Mark.

.

.

Because they all feature his favorite fruit.

.

.

The man likes Spam, but not watermelon.

.

.

That’s just wrong.

.

.

Our nightly raccoon .

.

.

My husband had one as a pet when he was a child.

It’s very tempting..

.

.

❤️

.

Squirrelly acrobats.

.

While the red squirrels are a constant unwelcome chewing, gnawing, destructive menace… our gray visitors provide hours of entertainment.

.

.

I know we’re in the minority here, but we don’t mind squirrels eating from our feeders.

.

.

They’re usually content to perch in the flat ones and happily munch away, but the other day this fellow was determined to get the last few seeds out of the carriage feeder and that proved more challenging.

.

.

Gravity be damned.

And just when he figured it out?

.

.

Squirrel #2 arrived and kicked him off.

.

.

Undeterred… our intrepid acrobat regrouped and moved on to the suet.

.

.

Gray squirrels….

.

.

Ya gotta love them.

.

Foxy lady?

.

Temperatures are warming during the day, our grass is finally green and the fox are back.

.

.

I say foxy lady in the title, but to be honest I’m not sure.

.

.

Sexing a fox requires getting up close and personal… and that I can not do.

.

.

But I can watch from afar and take pictures.

.

.

With Lord Dudley Mountcatten on high alert beside me.

.

.

Because male or female, it’s still a canine… and His Lordship is not a fan.

😉

.

Table crashers.

,

The deer are used to sharing the backyard spread with skunks.

.

.

But lately a trash panda is beating the stinky little critters to the buffet.

.

.

I’m thrilled because while we have nightly raccoons…

.

.

They rarely show up before it’s too dark to get a photo.

.

.

And though I’m tickled with the little masked bandits…

.

.

The deer don’t know what to make of him.

.

.

Especially when raccoon #2 waddles in.

.

.

Proving two raccoons is two too many.

🤣

.

Random nonsense.

.

Because they took care of our cat while we were in Newport, I returned the favor and watched our neighbors two cats while they were in California. Upon return she brought us a thank you gift of regional beer.

.

.

But not just any beer.

.

.

Beer with a sense of humor.

.

.

Ah, spring in Maine. It can go from 70 degrees to snow in 24 hours.

.

.

And when the grass starts to green…

.

.

The deer start blowing winter coats.

.

.

They look like scruffy ragamuffins..

.

.

And we find clumps of hair all over the lawn.

.

.

We definitely did not.

.

.

Unfortunate typo aside, I’m going to try this and report back.

.

He’s helping.

.

My husband has been knee deep into his coin collection of late. Sorting, researching, pricing and organizing.

.

.

Which means Lord Dudley Mountcatten for the assist.

.

.

No matter how many times he’s politely relocated to another room?

.

.

He finds his way back.

.

.

And helps, in true cat fashion.

.

.

It’s the price you pay for being his favorite person.

.

.

❤️
