First of the season.

.

Look who’s back!

.

.

I spotted our first woodchuck yesterday.

.

.

And immediately tossed out some lettuce and broccoli to welcome the little guy back.

.

.

I’m saying little guy but it might be a girl. I only know it doesn’t look like our old momma chuck of years past.

.

.

She’s been around for a long time and sadly, I think it’s time for the next generation to take over.

.

We’re doomed.

.

As many of you know, we’ve battled a certain red squirrel in the past.

.

.

She’s chewed holes in our barn, our garage and our wood shed.

.

.

She’s gnawed her way into the eaves of our home and given birth to a large brood we physically had to evict. She attacked my husband when he was cleaning gutters and built a nest in his truck engine, destroying wires that required it to be towed to the repair shop. I could go on, but I think you get the gist.

She’s a menace.

So the other day… when I saw she had a friend?

.

.

I was concerned, but before I could fully process the horror? I saw this…

.

.

Four!

There are now four red menaces in residence.

We’re doomed.

😫

.

This and that.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten has developed a disturbing fondness for Al Roker…

.

.

Should I be worried?

.

.

Has the revolution begun? And why did no one tell me…

.

.

I love Cards Against Humanity and Beth Dutton.

I may have to own this.

.

.

Not my photograph, but it was posted by someone in Maine.

If that squirrel isn’t silently saying ‘hold my beer’ ? I’ll eat my hat.

.

.

Bacon is life.

.

Let there be snow.

.

We’ve been having a number of small snow storms lately, 2-3 inches at a time, and thanks to some cold temperatures…

.

.

It finally looks like winter in ye old state of Maine.

I enjoy the change of seasons and while winter can be challenging, it can be beautiful as well.

.

.

Especially when our backyard visitors show up for a nosh.

.

.

We usually see them in the evening, but the other morning these two showed up for breakfast.

.

.

My husband was out front shoveling the driveway…

.

.

And the minute they spotted him?

.

.

Nothing but fluffy white butts.

.

.

😊

.

.

That’s one bad *ss otter.

.

I was going to include this article in my weekly useless news series, but this little fellow is so awful I figured he deserved his own post .

.

.

Look at that face.

He doesn’t even care.

.

.

Damn Ollie.

You’re one twisted little dude.

.

.

There’s frustrated…

And then there’s Ollie level frustrated.

.

.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never done that to my teddy bear.

😳

.

There must be starfish in Washington.

.

I love animals and enjoy learning quirky facts about their remarkable lives.

.

.

Not exactly subtle, but it sure beats yo yo dieting and spending hours getting ready for that first date.

.

.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. AI has a long way to go when it comes to simple tasks.

.

.

Brainless? Seems like there’s a whole lotta of seawater being pumped through Washington these days.

.

.

Owls rock.

We rescued an injured barn owl years ago and took him to an avian shelter for treatment. I rode in a car for an hour with an owl on my lap! It was a once in a lifetime experience.

💕

.

Danger Will Robinson!

.

Apologies to those too young to understand the title reference.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten loves looking out the window and keeps a close eye on birds and visiting critters. But when an enemy dares step foot in his backyard?

.

.

He lets the whole house know about it with snarls, growls and hisses.

.

.

Said enemy is Silas, the neighbor kitty who likes to stalk mice in our field and occasionally takes a stroll under the bird feeders.

.

.

His Lordship is not amused.

😉
