There are too many choices!

.

Floor shopping continues and the other day I decided to check out some solid hardwoods.

.

.

As usual I brought my trusty sample piece of broken trim to color coordinate shades. This cherry had potential…

.

.

And while this Acacia was spot on for color…

.

.

It was way too wild in application.

.

.

This oak looked promising…

.

.

But turned red in a hurry.

.

.

Cumaru?

.

.

Never heard of it, but it looks too much like a checkerboard for my taste.

And since I don’t want to replace this floor right now…

.

.

I’m leaning towards something with a bit of grey in the tone as it will butt up against the kitchen in two spots.

.

.

Which is why I keep coming back to this one.

Thoughts?

.

Let’s play.

.

Because that’s what we do once a week here.

.

.

For me there’s no contest, blue door all the way.

Sure, millions of dollars would be nice… maybe we could have a roof that doesn’t leak and that private jet I’ve always wanted…. but paying someone else to stain the deck so I wouldn’t blow out my knee? Changing doctors when I knew mine was an idiot so I wouldn’t be misdiagnosed and need surgery ? Not letting our cat outside on the day he was run over by a car? Or having the chance to spend more time with my father and ask him all the questions I should have before he died? I’ll take that over a giant bank account any day.

How about you?

Money or mistakes….

.

The search continues.

.

The search for appropriate height bar chairs goes on.

And on.

And on……

.

.

After 4 more stores  we found one.

.

.

The husband gave it  a test drive and was less than thrilled, with the design and the comfort level, but at that point we were ready to settle. Problem was that chair was the only one….  in the entire store. None in the back. None at the factory.

But this?

.

.

This you could buy 5 times over.

Wow.

The 70’s are calling…. they want their velvet back.

.

.

We found this chair at the next store. It was the right height, but had a tiny seat that was surely designed by the Marquis de Sade.

At the 6th store we visited that day, when we despaired of ever finding anything… we sucked it up and realized we’d have to pay a small fortune and go custom.

.

.

Working with a salesman, we chose this.

.

.

I won’t tell you what they cost per, but trust me….. it was enough to make you catch your breath.

So just when we were ready to pluck down a massive down payment to get the ball rolling, we were told that due to the pandemic….. the wait time on production was 12 plus weeks.

We’d have to wait 3 months to sit at our bar? Damn.

I didn’t like it…. but I liked the swivel, large seated, comfortable, attractive option so I was willing.

Husband on the other hand, was not.

The search continues.
