Skunks are not always black with a white stripe.
.

.
Sometime they’re white with a black one.
.

.
Our little family is proof of that.
.

.
Diversity.
.

.
Ya gotta love it.

There have always been hummingbirds at Casa River.
.

.
I put a sugar water feeder out (no artificial dye) as soon as we spot the first one appear in May and enjoy watching the brilliant little jewels drop by for a drink now and then.
We rarely see more than two at a time.
But this year we have three, and four…
.

.
And five.
.

.
And then?
Holy hummers Batman!
We’ve been bombarded by hungry avians.
.
.
I had to put out a second feeder and I’m refilling them every single day.
It’s been crazy…
But absolutely marvelous!
💕
.
Is there anything more lovely than the delicate beauty of a butterfly?
.

.
I tried to capture this Eastern Swallowtail with its wings fully open but never quite managed the perfect shot.
.

.
No matter, any encounter is time well spent.
.

.
Such delicate creatures.
.

.
And beautiful even when viewed from the side.
.

.
💕
.
.
We’re down to one woodchuck.
.

.
He visits morning and early evening and I oblige by providing treats.
.

.
On this particular day it was baby carrots and carrot shavings.
.

.
And though he munched them all….
.

.
From the look on his face?
.

.
It’s clear he would have preferred watermelon.
.
.
We love our nightly skunk visitors.
We enjoy watching them run across the lawn, jostle for buffet position and happily nibble their evening meal.
What we don’t love is the gifts they leave behind.
.

.
Or the order in which they leave them.
.

.
Following and removing the poo trail isn’t an every day occurrence…
.

.
But it does make me wonder why they can’t simply squat in one place.
.

.
🥴
.

.
To infinity, and beyond…
.
.
As you know, we have always had a resident red squirrel menace.
.

.
I’m sure this isn’t the original terror from years ago, but one of her numerous demon offspring.
.

.
She teases the cat, poops on the patio furniture…
.

.
Shreds the deck posts, excavates passages through the woodshed walls, chews holes in the man cave/Barn Mahal, burrows into the house eaves and builds nests everywhere to continue her accursed family.
.

.
I know this because…
.

.
We’re knee deep in the destructive little bastards right now.
.

.
Not good!
Not good at all….
😫
.
I don’t know who invented this or where I can get one, but it’s brilliant.
.

.
Anyone who’s ever stepped in a pile of it barefoot will appreciate a warning sign.
.

.
Cats.
There’re always where you don’t want them.
.

.
And as soon as my husband started rolling coins on the ottoman?
Sleeping cat.
.

.
And cat cleaning privates when your human isn’t paying him enough attention.
🤣
.

.
Huh..
So it is.
.

.
Skunks.
.

.
They’re not always black with a white stripe.
.

.
😊
.
.
Momma Chuck thought she’d found the perfect place to escape the kids.
.

.
Through the hole in the cover and under the grill.
.

.
Unfortunately, her solitude didn’t last long.
.

.
And three out of four babies joined her.
.

.
Poor Momma.
There’s no rest for the weary…
.
.
🤣
.
.
First there were two.
.

.

.
Then three.
.

.

.

.
And before long?
.

.
The entire family was here for a nosh.
❤️
.
.
Sometimes you just want hang on the deck in the sun.
If you’re a momma woodchuck you can’t do that alone….
.

.
No matter how hard you try.
.

.
Three out of four children are stuck to you like glue.
.

.
Poor momma.
.

.
😉
