April Fools! But not…

.

Two things happened yesterday that should have been April Fools Day pranks but weren’t.

First… we had our taxes done. This is always cause for mutual grumbling and groaning because we never see a refund and always pay, pay, pay.

So when the preparer tallied everything up and handed us this?

.

.

We were stunned.

Yes, it cost us $410 to find out, but … refunds! Not one, but two. We almost fell off our chairs.

It was also the first time my husband had to admit that this full time retirement thing might not be so bad.

😉

.

The second thing that I was sure was a prank was this…

.

.

Okay Oreo, ha ha. Funny joke.

But no….

They actually sold this monstrosity.

.

.

For one day only. On April 1st.

.

.

.

Blech!

.

.

A complete abomination and one that is sure to kick my dormant pickle algorithm into high gear.

Sigh.

🥒

.

Around the house fluff.

.

We’ve had a lot of afternoon rain showers lately and with them comes rainbows.

.

.

Too cloudy for a complete one, but with rainbows… half is just as sweet.

Required photos of Lord Dudley Mountcatten.

.

.

Seen here taking a bath with his blue whale.

.

.

Round two of flowers for the new stone garden bed out back. Fingers crossed the woodchucks don’t like them.

.

.

Family size my ever expanding *ss. These packages get smaller all the time. And if you haven’t tried the toffee flavor? Run to the store before I buy them all out from under you.

Foreground – fox.

Background – duck.

They seem to be friends now.

🙂

.

Maybe, just maybe….

It’s been said I buy too much food when I go grocery shopping.

And I agree, that might be true.

So every once in a while I have to purge my kitchen cabinets and pantry of non used and so old they’re rusting  slightly out date products.

It really is amazing how much stuff I can stuff in there.

Did I need 13 bags of nuts and dried fruit to add to my salads?

Apparently yes.

Yes, I did.

I also needed 5 bottles of vinegar (which I despise) and numerous Asian condiments that never managed to make it into a stir fry.

All of the above had to be thrown out.

Were they past their prime?

Perhaps a wee bit.

And as much as it killed me, I threw out a chocolate bar.

Because yes, they really can go bad…. even though I didn’t think that was possible.

And speaking of chocolate, did you know there’s now a Game of Thrones Oreo?

Oh, yes…. there is.

And if you like the Game of Thrones intro?

You’re going to love it in Oreos.
