The Crawford Notch 500

.

When you take scenic drives around the White Mountains of New Hampshire you’re going to pass through a lot of notches. Roads that are cut straight through the hills make for some fantastic photos.

.

.

Unless you’re riding with my husband who hates having anyone in front of him and is constantly jostling for position.

.

.

I can’t tell you how many great shots I’ve lined up just to whizz past them in a blur.

.

.

My husband may be well into the senior citizen age range but you’d never know it by the way he drives.

.

.

Ever come up behind an elderly driver and have to slow to a turtle’s crawl?

.

.

I can guarantee that’s not my spouse. He’s the one coming up in your rear view mirror who makes you move into the next lane to avoid him riding in your back seat.

.

.

It may not look like it, but he was doing about 90 here, passing from the right, next to a big rock. Good times.

.

.

After we exited Crawford Notch and I drew a deep breath?

.

.

We finally visited a place that’s been on my bucket list for years….

To be continued.

  1. You sure hubby wasn’t born in Canada, specifically in Alberta? Albertans have a driving style we call “Gotta Be First!” Whenever they see a car in front of them, they speed up, mo matter how fast they are already going, and no matter what the speed limit is. The RCMP do not have to make quotas in Alberta, they surpass them by the 10th day of the month. One guy I met bragged about getting 5 speeding tickets on a 300 km (just under 200 miles) stretch of road. I cannot remember what he said he paid in fines, but it was over $1500 total. He is a true dyed-in-the-wool Redneck!
Speeding tickets aside, those are some pretty pictures.

    1. Not to be outdone, Manitoba drivers have a different style. When they see a STOP sign they roll through them, seldom coming to a full stop umless they are forced to. And when they see a yellow traffic light, they step on the gas. They can’t stand waiting at red lights.
Whenever my partner does this (in Alberta) I just tell her she she has a Manitoba Driver’s Licence. In our first 10 years together I had to say that alost daily. The last 10 years hardly at all. 😏

  2. What is it about having to be first??? People pass me only to sit right in front of me at practically the same speed I am going at…just because I was in front of them. At least I am not bothered by having a car in front of me, it’s kinda comforting really…especially at night.
