I’m not a prude… but are these really necessary?

.

It probably won’t surprise you to learn my algorithms often give me cocktail recipes… which spellcheck just changed to ‘road pies’ for some inexplicable reason… and while I’m always up for new cocktail combos?

Things have taken a decidedly blue turn lately.

.

.

.

I dislike cutesy… not to mention raunchy… names and won’t be ordering those anytime soon.

😒

.

Let’s play…

.

You may have to think for a moment but it (probably) won’t hurt.

.

.

Here’s what makes me see red –

I’m cooking, carefully following a recipe and laying out all my ingredients… only to discover that the 12 ounce can/bag/box of whatever I need is now 10 ounces due to shrinkflation and I need to make another run to the grocery store to pick up another full can/bag/box of whatever it is I need to get that missing 2 ounces.

Grrr.

Pay more/get less drives me insane. Add the damn .40 cents to the price and give me a full portion of the product so I don’t have to buy 2 and end up wasting most of the second.

.

.

😡

Okay, that’s my kitchen rager. How about you?

What makes you crazy in the kitchen.

.

Haggi (haggii?).

.

According to the new FB group I follow, Wild Haggis are everywhere… if you know where to look.

.

.

And next Halloween?

Beware…

.

.

Some people have named their resident haggi.

.

.

Maybe my Scottish friends can help with this next one as I am unfamiliar with Buckfast.

.

.

Tragic, that.

.

.

Everything is a little different in Australia.

.

.

Interspecies cooperation is a beautiful thing.

.

Do you Stonewall?

.

The husband and I made a trip to York recently to visit the Stonewall Kitchen mothership.

.

.

It’s a huge store with a cafe that offers cooking classes as well.

.

.

I’ve always wanted to go because I love their products and this is the only place you can find their entire line in one place. The tasting stations are a helpful way to avoid buying things you don’t like and since the holidays are approaching there were decorations scattered throughout.

.

.

Who knew Santa liked martinis?

🍸

.

.

I admit the husband wasn’t as thrilled with the excursion as I was.

.

.

But he’s enjoying the results all the same.

A yummy I have to share…

.

My husband usually cringes when I announce “New recipe for dinner tonight!” as many of them don’t live up to the hype. But I found a nice one the other day and thought I’d share.

.

.

Creamy, cheesy goodness for the win.

.

.

I always try to follow the ingredient list to the letter the first time out, but my spouse isn’t crazy about ricotta cheese so I blended half cottage/half ricotta and it was fabulous.

.

.

Though when it came time to filling and rolling the noodles, I realized I had a problem.

I didn’t skimp… and would run out of filling long before the desired 8.

.

.

So I had to make another half a bowl. This was the perfect amount … I recommend starting off that way if you want to give this one a whirl.

.

.

Here are my tweaks –

I used a cooked rotisserie chicken, rosemary and garlic seasoned. I chopped, didn’t shred.

Recipe calls for 2 cups Alfredo sauce but to be honest I think it could use more. We like things saucy.

I’ll be making this one again and think I might add some fresh spinach next time I roll.

Please use fresh garlic.

Enjoy!

.

Deer and hangovers.

.

Doing dishes the other morning I noticed movement on the farm across the street.

.

.

A young buck had been startled and was running across the field in front of the not yet finished greenhouses.

.

.

They sure do blend in this time of year.

.

.

In other news I saw an advertisement for a product I certainly could have used back in the day.

.

.

Not dying anymore is all you can ask for in a hangover cure…

.

A plan for Election Day.

.

.

My husband is a political junkie and will no doubt be up all night obsessively watching the election results.

I will happily go to bed early and trust America to do the right thing.

Our plan is to vote late this afternoon and head to one of our favorite restaurants for a nice meal.

And cocktails.

If ever a night calls for alcohol, it’s this one.

🇺🇸

.

Morning fog and an organized drawer.

.

Our weather has been all over the place lately. 70 degrees during the day, 27 at night. It’s temperature whiplash but it makes for some interesting foggy mornings.

.

.

Happily it disguises the new greenhouse construction across the street.

Yay fog.

.

.

There’s something eerily peaceful about waking up to fog.

.

.

It lets me ease into the day slowly.

In other news… my husband went searching for something without asking me the other day and tore everything apart in the process. He laid waste to our utility closet and was halfway though the kitchen junk drawer when I walked in.

.

.

Ironically he organized said drawer in the process and now I can’t find anything.

.

.

🤣

.

News you can’t use.

.

Because I’m nothing if not helpful.

.

.

I do love a small appliance with multiple uses…

.

.

130 years old with two girlfriends?

Props Henry. You da man.

.

.

This could be my future.

.

.

Proof that you can take it with you.

.

.

As long as it is a nice wedge of dairy.

.

.

Don’t judge. Fish may be *ssholes 200 meters down.

.

.

Thanks, but I’d rather not.
